Caller: Supposedly a charity!

Said they were from 'Next Step' charity whatever that is. I asked them their phone number but was met with total silence.
This nonsense is making the phone service useless and nothing is being done about it. Not that our government ever does anything unless it's for their wealthy mates.

Call me at 6:30pm, WST time on the dot. After reading the below comments I blocked them.

I get many calls every week ever sinced I said one yes to a question on a so call charity questioniar or poll or survey or what ever else they freindly label it as. Other people please beware not to say yes despite you have helped them in the past as this opens the flood gates to other charities possibly even scammers if the information is sold to the wrong people.

I am for ever blocking calls and continuing to use reverse look up in case there is a genuine call I need to answer. For me luckily the calls less freuquently originate from Perth (my hoem city) and majoirty are from other states. Never had one from SA, NT or TAS, yet, making it easier to filter, as most people call me on a mobile number.

Most often with these calls I wait for some one to speak (do not say anything yourself); there is often no responeone, I heard they multi call a bunch of numbers and hear who replies. So be in a quiet place to answer and you know if there is not a replay it may not be human but something perhaps suotomated to respond.

IMPORTANT:
For those that are not in the know you can registere yourself on the do not call register on the .gov.au site. Careful, I am suspicious that questionair targetted at me was a way around for them to bypass that register!

Thanks to all who left info on this number. I let the call go through to message bank - no msg left of course but the number was showing and as unknown to me I came here as usual. From the dates of previous posts it looks like the lowlife abusing the telephone system took an ill-deserved Christmas break.

Have had numerous calls from 'strange numbers' - charity, pretending to be ATO, etc., etc. As our landline is only used to facilitate our NBN connection and we don't use it for receiving/making calls, I have put the ringer on 'silent'. However, I do have '"caller id" set up on our landline so am able to retrieve the phone numbers that have attempted to ring our landline. Well worth the few $ you pay to have caller i.d. on your landline.

Called me as I was entering a dead zone wasnt my relatives number so expected it was yet another Indian scammer, not being racist just stating facts that 99% of these dodgey $&$&%@ are of that decent, worked in telemarketing myself and well to aware of how simple it is to get a free multidialer and slap on some BS speil to lure hard working people out of their funds...quit working for alot of them for that reason. Lowest of the low scum and thats putting it nicely.

this number is one of the 3 worst persistent scammers who simply will not give up. Yes they blocked but the modem log shows their repeated attempts of 20 or more tries every few days

Caller: Next Steps / Spammer?

This number called me while I was on another call. I did have a call from Next Steps yesterday from this number : (03) 8588 3916 collecting funds for Domestic Violence support. She was terribly cheerful for such a serious thing. Dodgy.

Next Step is a genuine charity but its offices are in NSW so could well be a scammer using them as a front.

Caller: Charity Scam

Supposed Charity scam. I answered the call, and some person started talking about their supposed Charity. When I asked that I wanted more information about their organization, the person hung up.

Unfortunately, charities are exempt from the "do not call register".

I blocked this number weeks ago but still these scamming pests will not abandon their harassment and keep trying to call me, usually at dinner time. A pox on them.
