I cannot understand what is the reason for all these pointless calls, can someone please explain?

Several missed calls from this number and today I actually answered the call but there was no answer, just as I was hanging up I heard someone say 'hello'. I'm going to block this number too after reading all these comments.

Just rang the number to be told that they were Optus. I asked why they were ringing me - they told me it was offer me a 25% discount on bundled services. I told them I wasn't interested in to remove me from their call register. Interestinly I had also been recieving calls from (03) 9908 2726. I rang this number after I hung up from the call to (03) 8199 8010 and it was answered by exactly the same person. He has assured my I am no longer on their contact list.

This number rings at least 4 times a day. I never answer it. They left a message with no one speaking. The other number that rings a few times a day is (03) 9908 2726 - same people.

I had some fun talking to the lady on my private line, with a fake accent each time, and I kept giving them random phone numbers and names when asked for them... and then hung up. Unfortunately this number is also linked to Optus' actual sales team - I think they've been hacked!

Before this number I got several calls from (03) 9908 2726. After the first time I answered and got hung up on I just declined the rest. Telemarketing fail!

this is an absolute scam. they say they are from optus and are going to give you a free ipad tablet valued at $900 but then they go on to say that they will give you 2g for $38 per month. Thats when I told them to go get you know what and the girl on the other end (definately asian) but was desperately trying to put on an American accent, started laughing. I then advised her that I was not an idiot and that she was not to call me again. I have contacted optus about this to see if they can do anything about it.

When answered there is no noise and then it hangs up.

It's Optus missed call service. Dial 159 and it will ask you if you would like to deactivate. It started to happen after I got my phone handset n sim card replaced.

Just dial 159 and it will ask you if u would like to deactivate the missed call service. Plus it is an Optus missed call service.

They have called me every day this week, and hang up as soon as I answer.

Im consistently getting calls from this number, when i answer they hang up, when i call back i either get music or someone says hello before hanging up, very very annoying

Got a call a week ago saying that they were from Optus and they were giving an offer an iPad, since then they have called 3 times but I haven't answered thinking its a scam.

Same as all above - calls consistently around 5:30pm. Music when called back.

I have had 3 calls this week from this number. There is noone on the other end , then they hang up. Where and how can I complain?

I got the same thing. they called me 6pm and I answered then they hang up! i called straight back and got music. they also called me last week. how do i block these idiots!

The caller hung up when i answered my mobile. I called back on my land line after reading this thread. My call was answered by a lady stating she was carrie from optus and how can she help me. I hung up and put the call in my reject contact list

Phone rang, I answered, said hello twice and they hung up. This is the 3rd "optus" number I've had calling me the same way in the last couple of months.
Not sure how to stop it-being on the no call register doesn't help.
