I received a Message from the ATO from a man saying a legal course of action against for tax evasion and tax avoidance and if I didn't call them or my lawyer call them back on (03) 6121 4145 there would be a warrant for my arrest and they would forcefully recover the amount owed through legal court actions. They also said my house is under surveillance.
I believe this is a scam Don't give them your details.

Have received the same call also. With the above number and also another (02) 6188 5608.

Same crap, for me. An Officer Mark Brown, called on 5th Oct and said a warrant had been issued for my arrest. Number is (02) 6152 8696 (or 3 at the end) heavy accent.
7th October got the one about Tax evasion and arrest warrant. o3 6121 4145.

Exactly as described above. They left the message twice on my home phone yesterday. In Toowoomba, Queensland.

They have tried us as well. Why is it that Telatra & the ATO don't seem to do anything, other than occasionally warn people about this scam. No wonder con artists continue to rip people off when organizations the size of Telstra & the ATO do nothing about bringing charges against these people.

This number is obviously a scam so why hasn't anyone investigated the recorded message and shut the number down at the source and throw the fraudsters in jail for a holiday.

I just got home to find the exact same threat on my answering machine, twice in the same day. Tax evasion and tax avoidance. I'm reporting it along with the number to the ATO. Don't reply to (03) 6121 4145

Copped two messages left on my machine today for the same thing. Hung up when I rang them back straight away.

I have received a message from this number.
It is a scam and I feel for the elderly and those that live alone and also those that have become victim to this. It is appalling at the lengths some people will go.

just had a call from the same number telling me that the ATO is taking me to court and I or my solicitor need to contact them and arrange to pay up the outstanding tax or I will go to court and jail for tax evasion

Ditto the message from "B" on October 7. The disturbing part for me is that I actually do owe the ATO an instalment so I did feel very threatened by this exceedingly heavy-handed approach.

this number just called & harassed my mother who is disabled & told her they were coming to take her to jail & take her house to cover her tax bill of $95,000.

Received this call 2 months ago and answered it (03) 6162 4145). They wanted me to pay them by credit card the amount I was supposedly in arrears. I had realised this was a scam and asked for their bank details so that i could send them the money direct. They then hung up.
They are now trying it again, so I am looking to have a bit of fun with them.

This is a big scam. The man hung up on me twice when I asked was this the australian taxation office. BEWARE people nasty nasty scammers.

On 11October2015 a caller left a message threatening issue of an arrest warrant and legal action against us (not named specifically) for tax avoidance and/or tax evasion, but gave us the opportunity to settle up before it was too late. The number to ring back was (03) 6121 4145. The caller states that it is an automated message, but it was of very poor sound quality, and was read out in a foreign accent.

This rubbish still be used. Ignore and enjoy your day.

Total scam exactly as reported by other. Its disgraceful how they target and frighten the elderly.
