Says in an automated message that a court order has been issued in my name and to call back or I’ll be arrested. Never once mentions my name and is in a robotic automated voice

I received the exact same voice mail today!

Scam pretending to be ATO!!!

It’s in robotic automated voice says I have to call back re - there’s a warrant or I will be arrested. I never been in Melbourne ever before, don’t have family over there either, and I lived in different state. This kinda scary me. When I ring back it says the phone number is not connected.

Missed call. They left an automated voice message stating they were issuing a warrant for my arrest unless I called back immediately.

For anyone who has received this call and they're worried - don't be. It's not a legitimate company. It's a complete scam. They're trying to get money and personal information from you. You have not done anything wrong. If there legitimely was an arrest warrant after you, they would not be calling you to tell you that. They would be sending you a letter or some kind of official documentation. Please do not stress yourself out over a hoax. What these people are doing is fraud, and I don't doubt that they will eventually be caught.

My wife got a call from this number. Same thing - arrest warrant will be issued etc.
Read all the other comments. we realised it was a scammer so no call back.
Caller is lucky we are not in Victoria otherwise I would organise to track them down.

Called left a message saying they are from the Australia Tax office and their is a lawsuit against my name if i dont call back they will issue an arrest warrant. They called on a Saturday

Most likely, the purpose of this call is to try to get you to call back so they can obtain a voice print. Now that places like Centrelink and other government agencies are using voice prints for identification, the scammer hopes to be able to access your personal data.

General rule of thumb, if they don't identify you by name, but tell you that something is being done in your name and you need to call back, then it is a scam. My guess is that somebody in Nigeria has an auto-dialer that goes through a switch in the country they are targeting to make it seem legitimate,

As with others, "Officer Ricky" with an accent claimed to be from ATO when I called back, but could not give me a way to verify this. Kept saying "you tell me" when I asked how he could prove this. Wanted my name and details, but couldn't give me anything at all to prove it was a legitimate call; which leads me to believe it wasn't.

Happed to me yesterday . Verry scary . Someone should be able to stop them

Yes I just had this as well - definitely a scam.

I was left a strange voice and which didn't translate properly. But stated 2 warrants were being filed against me in court and he Wanted me to call immediately and quote reference nner 35488. Did anyone else get a reference number. This is the 2nd time I've had an ATO attempted fraud and they are more convincing than others, particularly if you haven't submitted a tax return or you have a court matter pending.
