    This was a legitimate call from Coles Financial Services. I am an existing customer and the consultant had all my account details to hand. He confirmed my identity before discussing the offer, which was actually advantageous to me. The consultant sounded as though he was not a native English speaker, but he was very articulate, if a little long-winded. He was clearly well trained, efficient and friendly. Our call was disconnected (I don’t know why or at which end) before I had received confirmation of new arrangement to which I had agreed. When I rang the number back I received a recorded message advising that Coles Financial Services had tried to call me but that it wasn’t urgent and that someone would call me back. As this was after 8 pm on a weekday, I imagine that their call centre had closed for the evening.

    After reading previous comments, I contacted Coles Live Chat via their website, and they confirmed that it was their promotional team...
    Me: Why are you calling my mobile from (02) 9296 5684 ?
    Coles Live Chat: It didn't show here any specific notes about the call
    Coles Live Chat: But a possibility is that it came from our promotions team
    Coles Live Chat: The information shows that you can take advantage of this what we call Fixed Payment Option. This is where we can let you use your available credit remaining in a form of cash advance and send it to you as a paper cheque. The good thing is that you can repay it in installment between 1 - 3 years at a lower interest rate compared to the standard cash advance fee on your account.
    Coles Live Chat: The offer on your account shows an interest rate of 10.9%.
    Me: I DO NOT WANT TO RECEIVE ANY PROMOTIONS. I WANT YOU TO TAKE ME OFF YOUR CALLING LIST.
    Me: I want your assurance that you will not call me again.
    Coles Live Chat: I understand, and I am sorry about that
    Coles Live Chat: one moment, please
    Coles Live Chat: That has definitely been turned off for you, along with mail, sms and email. All have been turned off

    Female said she was calling for Coles Financial Services. She said my name. I have a Coles account, so that caught my attention. She asked me to state the first four letters of my email address to verify my details. I said, "tell me what this is about and if I am interested you can send a verification code to the email address you have on file for me." She immediately ended the call.

    Coles financial called using my first name and offering low interest quick cash. Kept emphasizing low interest. Then asked for the first 4 letters of my email account to verify identity. I said no and hung up. If it is genuine they can stop the hard sell!

    At 12:42pm Tue 23jul19, telephone call from (02) 9296 5684. Voicemail message received: operator was transferring this call to my number. Caller Unknown was speaking, could not understand most words said, until he identified .... he was terminating this call

    it is just another money lending scheme. Now credit card lenders have to be more vigilant about who they lend to etc, this is a new way for CFS to lend you money while not directly on your card. The idea is to novate some of your CC debt to a new structure to leave you more credit limit, so you can spend more on your Credit Card. At best this is bending the rules, clear breach of the credit laws in my mind.

    it was a rude and arrogant guy who was talking in a funny tone (seemed that he had blocked nose), when I said I don't answer questions over the phone and they can contact me via email, he got upset and said "sure I will get someone else to call you to confirm my identity bla bla bla", I ended call. He said he wanted to inform me some promotions, and i said i am not interested.

    Does anybody who posted above actually know for certain whether the caller is in fact Coles Financial Services?

    Many called back and "verfied" that the caller was "legit", yet we are warned repeatedly by ASIC not to call back numbers provided in unsolicited call or in emails.

    Australian banks also advise us that they do not request information by email or phone and warn customers to not give out any information.

    I would suggest that people simply hang up on cold callers and, in the case of Coles Finanacial Services - which is owned by American bank Citibank, start making complaints to the Financial Ombudsman!

    I have received these calls EVERY DAY for a month or more.
    I rang up before and told them to stop.
    It hasn’t. I even BLOCKED THE NUMBER. That didn’t work either.
    I went to website for credit card today and got the number 1300 306 397. When it says go to automated ignore it and do nothing and after 3 recordings it will automatically go to an operator.
    There I blew my fuse and told them it was harassment, that I would also cancel my card if it continues and I would go to the financial ombudsman if I was NOT LISTENED TO and acted upon my request to desist. She advised me she would take my name off ALL emails, phone calls etc.
    We will see. I will inform everyone here if that occurs.
    We need to ALL band together and put these sycophants in their place....the credit companies not the callers.

    I receive a regular call , 4 times a month average, I don't have them listed as contact so I don't answer and wait for a voicemail. They never leave a message so i do not call back due to high probability they know I would not want to respond.

    This is an offshore international based call centre who if people answer do a hard sell to get the product they have been pushing - installment payments at a minor discount only. it's really a way for people to spend the amount or and above the credit limit.
    I have asked to be removed many times but has not happened they keep calling over 6 times a month - when I said don't call.
    Not a scam but unethical way of doing business.

    They won't leave a message and if you don't answer, the calls are persistent. The last time I out-waited them it was calls approx 2x per day for 3 weeks. When I did finally take the call (during this latest cycle which is about 2 months after the last round), they hung up on me after I told them I couldn't hear them. I can't help but wonder if this call centre gets paid by the contact? They are now on my blocked list.
    PS I think there is some sort of automatic dialling system as during one of the cycles, I answered and there was silence on the other end, followed by a hang up. My theory is that this happens when there is no operator free to engage with the answered call (but please correct me if anyone knows what this really is)
