Caller: Coles Financial Services Telemarketing Recorded message 3 times says trying to connect call then 4th time says, sorry couldn't connect and hangs up. Putting number in my blocked numbers but they just keep using different numbers. I do have an account with them but so sick of these calls and eMails with offers.

ASIC have implemented Anti Hawking Laws. Coles cannot cold canvas calls. However I do not know how this would apply to international call centres. Or, if this is legitimately Coles.

Caller: A man with an India accent He was polite. Firstly he said that he was from Coles Credit Card. He aked me whether my phone showed his number (02) 9296 5684. Then, he asked me whether he called me in a good time that I could continue the talk. Thirdly, he asked me for my postal code for identification purpose. I refused to give away any of my personal data by saying that I could not identify him and I had no reason to inform any unknown person about any of my data. He told me to ring Coles 1300 number at the back of my credit card. Then he dropped the line. My feeling was not good. There is no reason for Coles to ask client to identify myself as their staff rang my number. By ringing my number, the staff should know my name, my card number, my ... If Coles wants to know whether I am his client, the staff have to convince me that he is from Coles before asking me to believe him is from Coles in the first place. And additionally, I have to convince him that I am the owner of the credit card. Funny .....

Caller: COLES FINANCIAL SERVICE A lady called who knows my full name, I asked three times what is it about, however she just keep asking me to confirm my personal details. Finally she said that they have some low interest rate offer for me. Clearly told her I'm not interested, and she just wouldn't listen, sounds like I am an idiot not taking the offer....

Caller: Pretending to be coles There were too many red flags in this call, the security check was weird and didn't ask for the standard details, but the caller didn't know the correct name for coles financial services either, and told me he had looked through my transactions. He knew my name and middle initial, and asked me if that was my name!
Didn't sound genuine at all, but clearly there has been a data breach somewhere.

Caller: Coles Financial Services Got a call from the number, but the call went to my work mobile, which isn't the one I registered with them - so guess what CFS - I screen all calls! Given the comments from previous people complaining, you are now officially on my "blocked" phone list! Congrats CFS!!!!

Caller: "Coles Financial" Offshore call centre. Dribbling in circles. They said they were calling to offer me a deal. When I said I'd need to verify their identity to discuss banking data over the phone with a random caller, they were not cooperative. I'd be hard pressed to think this was a genuine call from Coles Finance.

Caller: Coles Financial Services I was very wary that it was a scam and told the female caller with the very stilted accent that I did not want the product and that I thought she was scamming me but she just kept going. She was talking about transferring my unused balance .. which she had .. as cash to my bank account and I thought there would then be a request for my bank account which was never happening. I eventually just said no and rang the number on top of my statement. Eventually I got onto a person but even that was dogdy and they said that I had been contacted with the offer. Still not convinced it is not a very elaborate hoax and that all of CML's numbers have been hacked ...

Caller: Coles Financial Services Very long winded intro to the call. But I never did find out exactly what it was about as when I was asked to provide my suburb to verify it was me - I said no. I don’t provide any information in relation to my credit card over the phone. If you have my account info and my phone number then you’d know my suburb. Again she said it was verification purposes. How my suburb identified me I don’t know. But anyway that finished the call. She was polite about it but wasn’t prepared to give me any more details when I refused to give her my suburb.
