Update from another website:
Hi everyone, it’s Citibank Australia here – we’ve just come across this thread and would like to clear up your concerns. First of all, apologies for the confusion and the experience you’ve had – this is not what Citibank aspires to and it’s not what you deserve!
To clarify, the calls you’ve been receiving from these numbers are genuine and they are from Citibank. We may have called you from our centre in Sydney to tell you about an insurance offer and to see if you are interested in taking up that offer.
As background, we were having a technical issue which was causing the hang up scenario you’ve described – we’ve fixed that now. We have procedures in place to ensure that we only call people we are allowed to. If you are one of our customers and no longer want to receive these types of calls, please let us know by calling 13 24 84 and together we can amend your details. We have also changed the answering machine message you hear when you call one of the numbers we use to make outbound calls. It now includes more information and clarifies that you’ve been called by Citibank regarding an insurance offer, giving you the option to leave us a message for a return call.
I hope this information clears things up. Please accept our apologies for the confusion and your experience. We are always trying to improve our customer experience and your comments on this thread have helped us to do this. If you have any further concerns, please call us on 13 24 84.
Thanks for your time, Citibank Australia

Citibank call - DaveMarch 13, 2012UnknownAustralia
If Citibank are so concerned about their clients why are we being called from people who sound like gang banging cartoon characters, like Johny Jusic, and Rabi the Lebo and Bianca the bimbo. This so called call centre has been scraping the bottom of the barrel of employees. If this is what Australia has to offer on the employment front no wonder these companies go off-shore. These people know where we live. Scary. I might not want the credit card insurance but I do like my flat screen TV. - EdDecember 20, 2011UnknownAustralia
I am getting these calls too!
Very annoying!
How can we stop this??? - CaseyDecember 12, 2011TelemarketerAustralia

Signed with CitiBank yesterday - got call today... grrr! - LuckyApril 21, 2015ScamAustralia
Its incredible, Citi Bank ( BOQ) and all the others that offer credit facilities love it when you are behind in payments , they make a motza in fees and charges, but hate it when you pay on time, or heaven forbid payout the line of Credit and ask for it to be cancelled.@21% interest charges and both the Federal Government an the reserve bank wont apply pressure to these white collar criminals it easy to see why people are getting pissed off, when the official interest rate is @ 2%. Pay off as much as you can and as fast as you can, these institutions what the average Joe Blow to live in the poverty cycle. hey call but never leave any info, thank god for reverseaustralia.com - PeterFebruary 10, 2015UnknownAustralia
Citibank, your technical issue is not completely fixed. Received another call today. - Sue MazurDecember 3, 2014UnknownAustralia
I have just received a call from a "Bank of Queensland" representative, referring to my credit card with BOQ that I have had for "........years and.....months now", and offering a new line of upgraded products - price guarantee refunds and insurance on my credit card transactions. The fellow insisted that I needed to provide my email address for "legal reasons" and they would then mail out the documents to me to read in my own time. I became suspicious because BOQ have my contact details. He would not post out the documents without my first providing him my contact details stating he didn't have them "because he was in another department". I then enquired here who the call came from. I can see the post from Citibank Australia on 2.2.2012 confirming the calls from (02) 9191 1653 are Citibank. I called the number posted by Citibank, 132484, to enquire about the call and what is the connection (if any) to BOQ, but there is no way to go through on that no. to a person unless you are an existing Citibank customer with Citibank ID. In view of this dealing and calls, this means in my view that the caller was fraudulently representing himself to me as a representative of BOQ. - SusanJuly 10, 2014UnknownAustralia
This number keeps phoning my mobile and asking to speak to my husband about our credit card-the callers claim they are from Bank of Qld. They are so rude & generally end up hanging up when I question them but they still keep pestering me. - GemmaDecember 9, 2013UnknownAustralia
I have received 7 calls today by this number. One of the phone calls was at 5.30am not at all impressed. All I get is hung up on as soon as I answer. Very unprofessional. - willadog01October 4, 2012Debt CollectorAustralia

Stop ringing it's annoying 4 missed calls already from them today and it's only 12:00pm ... ffs ... bugger off - Over-ItMarch 22, 2012Fax MachineAustralia
its not just citibank, i think its when u use your number to sign up for some crap product on the net eg: facebook, twitter, online games and mobile ringtones and stuff of that nature,,, its just an automated machine that calls to see if ur number is active.. thats why no one ever talks back.. if u answer it they know the number is active and there just going to call more and give your number away to stupid scam related companies..
my best advice is to just let it ring out or contact your service provider and ask them to block all incoming calls from that lan line..
by you answering or verbally abusing them is just increasing there ego.... stay safe peeps - AdamMarch 21, 2012TelemarketerAustralia
Obviously the problem hasn't been fixed, because it just happened to me. - SamMarch 19, 2012UnknownAustralia
