Got a call this morning saying something about Commonwealth Court and needing to call (02) 8607 5073 or the local police would arrest me.
I'm not bothering to call but would like to know what the scam is...

ATO scam

I just had the same experience as Adam.
It is a scam.

Just had a call, it was an automated message but asking me to contact this "company" on 8607 5073 to deal with a tax issue before the ATO or Local Police issue a warrant for me. They are persistent they have called us more than 3 times over 3 month period

I am constantly being called by scammers. This is one of them. I am going to start reporting these scams. This one seems to be a recorded message received from (02) 8607 5073:

This is roughly the garbled message: .... tax evasion ... Before the case gets registered at the commonwealth courthouse of your territory .... you get arrested by the local police dept .... we want you or your lawyer (02) 8607 5073.

Just had an entertaining conversation with "Officer Kevin Jones" who very solicitously advised me to get a criminal lawyer within the next 45 minutes or I would be put before the nearest local court for some sort of tax fraud. Too funny, except that I recently had a client (elderly) who was literally on her way to the bank to pay the $6000 they demanded and luckily decided to get some advice before she did so.

Phoned twice on 27 Sept and today and left messages that I or my lawyer should phone back otherwise I would be arrested!!!

A male caller with accent left message saying they were from Commonwealth Courthouse left 2 messages saying you or your lawyer need to call back immediately. Believe scam call, they called twice also using the following number (02) 8310 7734
