Just had a call stating it was an automated message but asking me to contact this "company" on 8607 5073 to deal with a tax issue before the ATO or Local Police issue a warrant for me.
Total BS.

Just contacted the Australian Taxation Office and informed them of 'scam mail'. Did the same to Telstra, as they are my service provider. Hope this helps!

The number called us twice. Both times the speaker began way before the beep sounded. The part of the message recorded said we were wanted for tax evasion or fraud, and to call their number or have our lawyer call them or we would be arrested.
Both messages were exactly the same, it was a recording. Definitely a scam.

Just received message on my answering machine, male, heavy accent, I couldn't understand the first part of his message, but left this phone number (02) 8607 5073 (same number showed on my a/m) and said either I or my lawyer call back or I will be placed under arrest! Pfft, Loser.

I had the same message left on my machine from "The Australian Tax Office". Some rubbish about the local court house of my county and the police being contacted. I do wonder if it is because I submitted my last tax return with eTax accountants!

Technology is a wonderful thing but when used badly why can't the authorities use it to bag these arsewipes and terminate them. Enough is enough.

Rang the number back and dark male voice answered: halo, halo, everybody halo, halo. This went on for a little and then 'the voice' hang up. Will try to record next time!

Automated messages about tax evasion and fraud. I am a Fraud Investigator and can tell you this is the oldest trick in the book. FYI - the ATO sends letters they do not call

A male caller with accent left automated message saying that I need to contact them back for tax evasion before a warrant is issued for me. They have rung several times and left automated messages.

This number is a scam. You should report to the police. I know few people had calls from this number.

Whoever is using this number is not legit. There was a message on my answering machine from this number this morning. The guy didn't give his name and I couldn't clearly understand what company he said it but I heard him say it was about tax fraud and that we needed to ring back on this number with our lawyers before the police came to arrest us!!!
