Someone with an Indian accent claiming to be Harry Smith rang and gave me this as a return number. Tried to tell me my computer was sending error maessages and need to be fixed - had my name as the registered Windows owner and phone number. He said he was from Global Routing Services so I checked this and found a number of other people had similar experiences and some paid money and gave access to their computers to have the problem they weren't even aware off fixed. it seems like a scam to me.When I rang the number I was told the Company name was Universal Technical Services.

Received a call from "Universal Technical Care" from 26 Albert Street, Newtown Sydney. Wasted 23:13 minutes of his time, until I was him that you must be calling from India. That is where he said he was calling from Newtown. I asked where in Newtown and that's where he gave me the exact location. Further, I said that it came up as an "Overseas" call so it couldn't be from Sydney. So therefore he started abusing me and I stated that I had been talking to him on the phone while on the toilet for 3/4 of the phone conversation and had not done any of the instructions he had told me to do and then told me I was a mudda fukka. Then I told him go and eat some curry then hung up. He had the nerve to call back and abuse my mother. Then called back a 2nd time and all they got was the answering machine. Sadly no message was left.

I just had a phone call from a person with an Indian Accent telling me there are problems with me computer and it has been hacked. After telling him this is a scam and I am not gullable (to look up in the dictionary if he didn't know) he still insisted that it is not a scam and realises that there are companies out there that are scammers bit not him. Asked him how do you know I have a computer and he answered through the Licence ID etc..what a load of crap, he also said he was from Newtown Sydney, year right!! I told him to never call and us Australians all know now what you are all about as some people have been burnt by giving out their credit cards etc and hung up.

This afternoon, Tuesday 17th March, 2015, I had another call from a woman with a Filipino or other accent who quoted my last name and my address and basically I said she was speaking to the wrong person. I asked for her name, where she was from and her phone number and said I'd get 'them' to ring her back. She said who is them? I said the right person. So she demanded I ask no more questions, with out actually saying that, and told me to 'just get the person to ring me back' . The phone number she gave sounded like she was thinking what she'd say next and it was (02) 8073 0462. I asked what hours are they opened which she didn't seem to understand so I repeated it and she said 1 - 10. I then asked if she was in Perth but she had no idea where that was! She then said I'm in Sydney. Oh, she told me her name was Shirley and she worked for UPT, I asked what that stood for and she said Universal Tech Care (which were not the initials she even quoted).
The same or similar person rang me yesterday and I told her she had the wrong number a she tried to talk over me so I hung up on her. Later in the afternoon yesterday a very aggressive male with a similar accent rang and demanded I give him the number!? I said he had the wrong number and he screamed at me so I yelled back at him and hung up. So all together that's 3 calls! This all sounds similar to what several others have reported!

I had this back in December, when I pointed out we had mac computers which did not have windows, and I told him this is a scam and I am hanging up now. The aggressive indian voiced male instantly rang back called me a mother f---ing bitch and then hung up. I have reported this to Telstra and they seem unable (or unwilling?) to do anything about this, apart from block my phone from overseas callers. I have caller ID and my phone shows overseas and private when people ring. I often ask where they are calling from and the say Sydney. ( I must admit I never knew Sydney was overseas from Victoria!!!!! ) i then say I would never do business with a company that asks it's employees to lie and hang up.

best way to deal with them is to string them along a few times, see if you can keep increasing the time you keep them on the line (assuming it is a convenient time for you to do something else mindless in the background) then tell them you have to have dinner with your family and they can call you back. Sooner or later they will twig, or by then they will be asking you o type a URL into the Run/Command prompt. Definitely don;t do that as it is for a Remote Access into your machine. When you keep holding your ground on this, they soon work out that they cant get around you and stop calling you .

Very similar experience. Indian accented female whose name I couldn't catch cold call quoting a computer ID and saying they were receiving error messages from my computer. Very evasive in answering any questions and talked over my questions. Didn't know what the MAC address of the computer was. Very insistent and confident. I was suspicious from the start and more so when she didn't know what the MAC was. She lost interest when I told her none of the computers in our house were running Windows

I've just had a number of phone calls from man with an Indian accent claiming to be from the "computer technicians department" at UTC. He was incredibly forceful and rude telling me my computer was sending error messages and was corrupt and he needed to fix the problem. I told him I didn't believe it was a legitimate call and was hanging up. He called back 3 times and wouldn't take no for an answer. He had my address and surname (easy to get off the internet but did maker wonder if it was real).
I have just searched UTC on Google and come across this. Mine was only different in that they refused to gives a need I could call back. Makes me wonder how many elderly give into the bullying. :( also glad it wase that answered the phone and not my elderly parents.

I received 3 calls from 3 different sales people from this site. the problem was exactly as mentioned from the above people.

My enquiry did not end well as he was using obsene language towards me once I did not comply with hi requests.
Believe it or not today after 24 hours I received yet another call on the house line(Prive Line ) of course and when I answered, Lo and behold it was them again, so I simply hung up

I've just had a similar call, which is why I'm checking this website. The caller was female with an Asian accent, said her name was Shirley Watson, and she was ringing from Universal Technical Care, and that she was in Newtown, Sydney, phone number (02) 8073 0462. At least, she didn't give me all this info straight off - I made her give it to me before I allowed her to go any further. She launched into the stuff about a "DNS" error, whatever that is, infecting my computer, and she also had my computer ID, supposedly as proof that the company were the technical backup people to Windows. I said i would do some investigating, and ring back. When I tried the number it was "unallocated".

I received a phone call from John (Indian accent). He insisted my computer had a problem and he had rung to fix it. I said there was no problem; he insisted there was. He said he had the licence number of my computer and read it out to me. This was his 'proof' that he was genuine as, according to him, the only people who had that information were his company, Universal Technical Care, and the owner of the computer. I refused to follow his instructions to check the licence number of my computer. He then insisted I should phone back later on (02) 8073 0573 and ask for John. Having checked this website, there is no way I'll be calling back.
