Similar to all other complaints about this scammer. His wicked aim is to access people’s computer and gather people’s identification to get money in a dirty way! This wicked guy should be prosecuted!

Caller: Robert from trend mirco

THIS IS A SCAM!!! I was trying to download trend micro security on my laptop.
It asked for my name email phone number and activation key. Put all that in and then came up with an error. I instantly received a phone call from “Robert” with a strong Indian accent. He proceeded to take over my computer and tell me I had multiple viruses and that I needed to pay $399 to get the right protection for my computer. I told him I didn’t have time and I would call back. Instead I called the number of trend micro on the back of the card and I was told that it was definitely a scam. They never call customers and DO NOT under any circumstances ask for credit card details.

Scary because they knew the activation code (genuine) i had bought from Harvey Norman, AND they were on the end of the phone number I rang from my computer screen when I tried activating the harvey norman activation code. High end scam. I was fooled, but blocked my credit card so they couldn't bill me $399 for installing "replacement" software to "fix" the problem with the activation code. I normally smell these rats a mile off, but even I got caught - principally because I rang the number on my laptop screen when I tried activating. Be careful people! Block this number and monitor your credit card charges!

Caller: Kevin said he was from Norton re my antivirus software.

He wanted me to go and get my computer to see why I wasn't getting critical messages. I told him I wasn't going to do that sort of thing via a telephone call unless I had phoned them with a problem. He said that I had spoken to a number of their personnel in the past and I should reference the conversations and call him back. I told him I 'could' do that, but I won't and having looked up the number, I have now blocked it.

They told me that my computer had been compromised via my Norton Anti Virus. they Quoted the names of my recent contacts with PC support and requested that I start up my computer for them as the had a copy of all my files for reinstallation.
I told the person with an Indian accent that I would contact PC Support for conformation.
They quoted my PC Support number and the names of two recent support officers that I had spoken to. He called from (02) 8355 7878.
