She claimed she is from Commonwealth Bank. She asked me to provide personal details for updating their file. A little bit suspective, but I cooperate with her anyway. Caller: I missed it
However I received an email from CBA said they attempted to contact me to collect some information: Source of funds and Source of wealth, they need to update it.
they asked me to call back 1300 077 141(option 1).looks no problems.
Claimed to be Jay from the Commonwealth Bank. Knew my first name, but strange, I don't have any accounts with the CBA. Must be using CBA like some scammers use Telstra, thinking that most people will have an account. claimed to be calling from CBA, asking me about my name, address and source of income. I fell suspicious, and confronted him how do I know he is calling from CBA, apparently he became nervous. better not to cooperate next time. Told me he was from the commonwealth bank and wanted to update my accounts. I ask them give me a phone number to call back. Then they give me the number1300 077 141, but I can not find the number in commonwealth bank web. Caller: J from Commonwealth Bank
Got a call from J from Commonwealth Bank on (02) 8055 4001. Requested an email be sent to me from them to confirm they were whom they say they were.
I didn't provide my email address to the caller... but they had it. Email that came to me was from a @cba.com.au email address.
Called them back via the phone number provided... 100% legitimate. To those here saying it's a scam, visit here... https://www.commbank.com.au/support/faqs/1265.html
Not sure why the number shown at this link is (02) 8055 4002 (and not (02) 8055 4001).
this number is legit, is a customer verification branch for new accounts at Commbank
He Call me and said that he working for CBA .
Requested personal Commonwealth bank Detail. But it was seems like scam so I asked him send me information to my Email.
I was shocked that he know my email but after I got email by him. I knew that is fking scam . Suck a professional thief.
Caller: Claim to be CBA
The legitimate number according to the CBA's website is (02) 8055 4002, not 0 2 8055 4001, the suspective similarity between these to numbers made me 100% sure it's a scammer,
Caller: Indian accent
Don‘t answer! Scam!
Caller: (02) 8005 4001
Guy who is name is J he said calling from Commonwealth Bank.
Requested my personal detail.
So I requested back his sir name and employee ID then he refused.
I suggested improvement their scamming skills.
I never get any phone call from bank even if I lost $1000 by scammers.
They are so busy , they don’t have time for callecting and updating your personal informations.
I called back number (02) 8055 4001 reached IVR for a company called Commonwealth Bank. Scammers!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caller: Supposedly CBA
I didn't call back. Got an email asking for personal details. CBA or not, I am under no obligation to respond, nor do I trust it. Just invite me into a branch and when I get around to it ok.
This is legitimate, they are calling from Commonwealth Bank - KYC (Know Your Customer) Which is based around getting to know their customers better, unsure why they need this information as everything is already monitored by them anyway but it is legitimate. Caller: Commbank
I setup a trust bank account in the branch earlier in the week, I got a call from this number to verify details. The person in the branch advised they may need to contact me. Legitimate call.
Indian scam Caller: Commonwealth Bank
This number is actually legit, they called me today and I was suspicious so hung up. I rang CBA themselves and it is in fact a legit number.
They are authenticating certain details for your account, for me was my ID as the last time they viewed my ID was 20yrs ago lol. Anyway I
don't blame anyone for wanting to confirm that it's not a scam and neither do they. Hope this helps someone. I found this thread when
working out if it was a scam or not and from the comments figured it was a scam until I called.
Caller: Claimed to be Rochelle
I have had a few missed calls over the past 2 months from (02) 8055 4001. Today Rochelle left a voicemail saying please call commonwealth bank on 1300 103 907 (which is a legit commbank number https://www.commbank.com.au/support.banking.customer-verification-services-team.html). I also received an email from KYC @ cba.com.au with a reference number. I did phone the number and it seems legit (it's also on their website). I asked them what they needed from me - The email says "re-verification of your identification documents". I told her i wasn't comfortable giving anything over the phone and I would prefer to do it in a branch, if anything. She said to take my DL or passport to a local branch. Even if this is real, this is odd. I have been banking with Commbank for 30 years, why would I need to provide this to them all of a sudden??
Caller: CBA call centre
Is legit..confirming details.
