Caller: Apparently Emily from CBA

I refuse to answer any phone numbers I do not already have in my phone
If they want KYC .. they can invite me into my closest branch ... I won't be updating anything over the phone .. I'd prefer to do it person.... better to be safe than scammed!

Requested for my personal details - told them they were ringing the wrong number - they rang again and when I answered with my name they hang up. Either a scammer or CBA is just so unprofessional.

This is the CBA identity verifications team. These people call if you recently opened an account or have applied to have an account for a new corporate entity unknown to the bank.

They said they wanted to update my details, I only just opened an account with commbank so I thought it was legit, told them I'm busy I'll talk to them tomorrow. Anyways missed their call the next morning later that afternoon I called the 80554001 number and there was no wait time, no AI automated system asking verification code or details or why I am calling. Someone bloke answered I asked him, be like a 6 digit number starting with 13. He replied saying if I go onto the website under customer some bullsh*t I will find it, I said let me call you back. I typed this number in on Google and bingo here I am

This is definitely a scam, someone said its Bank West and now its CBA.. I don't think so. Also they would not contact you asking for all your personal details. They would also not refuse to provide their cba working reference numbers or names. They always disclose their name and their ID number if they are a legitimate bank teller asking for your personal details, that way if you have a formal complaint you can make one.

cba verification team, called back and said they were scammer and they hanged up on me, so don't give you details.

CBA account verification for a business/ trust account. I was told by my banking person to expect a call - they had all relevant info (name of teller and branch I was at, time I was there etc)

This is BankWest customer collection, confirming personal details - this number and requests have been confirmed by BankWest at the branch, so not spam after all!

Asked for email - then rang back. This is a genuine call from CBA seeking to confirm and verify details to open a back account - such as the individual beneficial owner of company, whether it is an Aust taxpayer and whether or not an investment company

Legitimate caller from CBA looking to update outstanding details on my account.

To ensure privacy they said they will send a e-mail with details that required to be updated, in which I can then visit a branch to do so.

Seems legit.

Had this number call today (26/08/21). It was from the Commonwealth bank. They needed to verify details for a business account I was setting up.

They had the name of the business, my abn etc already so was legit their number

Unsolicited call purporting to be CBA verification for new account. Thought scam so disconnected caller later email from CBA and follow up 1300 call by me confirmed this is (02) xxxx 4001 number legitimate. Suggest CBA doesn’t continue to cold call customers like this - too many scam calls now
