Indian girl, said her name was Iva.[sic]
Anyway, she said she was from "accident investigation unit".
I said I was tired of hearing that bullsh*t from the guys with the same accent, with the same BS, but from different numbers (yes, I keep these nuisance numbers in the telephone memory, but they change)...
She seemed surprised and asked the name of the people who called before.
I said that of course I don't remember their names... which were "standard Western European" and obviously not real.
"How many calls did you receive so far?" was her question.
I said, that I didn't count but more then 5 during only this year.
Now, funny thing — she said "I'll delete your number from the system."
Why ( I wanted to ask) if it was a genuine call... :)))

We would get at least 2 of these phone calls everyday from his phone number and a few other numbers as well.
I would really like to know how to stop them properly.

Complete Scam.
Ask to be removed from the call list straight away. They may get very pushy.
Under NO circumstances should you give them any information.

SCAM.
Say they are Accident Investigation Unit. They claim to be calling about a 'recent accident'
When probed about what accident and where what vehicles they terminated the call.

Just received a phone call from this number. It was an Indian male, said he called from accident investigation department, asked if I have been involved in an accident in last 12months. I said yes, I killed an Indian man in an accident 3 months ago. Haha, what a world--- all the fraud scammers around.

As with others, claimed to be accident investigation and asked if I had been in an accident in the last two years. I asked for the vehicle registration that the accident related to ... which they couldn't provide so I hung up - scammers!

These people are total frauds running who knows how many scams, conning people out of their hard earned dollars, getting as many personal details as they can thus illegally selling them to the highest bidder worldwide. They obviously are not worried about making (false) threats either about claims and accidents that don't exist. How can they look at themselves in the mirror and not throw up?!! I too have been called by them and as often happens, I answer saying Hello 3 separate times in order to give them a chance to speak only to be hung up on without a word from them. Feeling fed up, and as I have a silent number, I rang the number back, a man with what may have been "Paki" accent answered with Hello, what is the claim you are making? I had to ask him to repeat what he said as was very difficult to understand his very strong accent. After asking 3 times the name of his company, I gave up and informed him, someone calls me from this number, but just hangs up after I've said Hello 3 times. He said we are calling about the car accident you recently had, and started asking me for my personal details and the details of the car accident. I told him I have not had any car accidents as I'm wheelchair bound and not physically able to drive at all. He pushed further asking if I've had any car accidents this year, last year, previous years, ever, but was not real happy when each answer was No. Then he asked me if any of my family or friends have had car accidents, but again was not too impressed when I said I have no family or relatives, and I'm sure my friends are more than capable of taking care of themselves and any accidents they may have. I could almost feel his desperation, and thought his next question was going to be, "Well, can you or your friends have an accident, then call me with your claim?" That way at least the calls would be legitimate, -- but he didn't ask, He just hung up. How rude!! So, a few thoughts suddenly crossed my mind, of which some may say could be individual solutions to this ANNOYING problem that a lot of us are experiencing, thus I am happy to share the thoughts here, and people can perhaps choose 1 or more in which to help themselves stop these FRAUDS once and for all, -- or at least give them a taste of their own medicine in more ways than 1.

Ok, Possible solution (1) Go on the Do Not Call register, and inform any of these frauds/companies that you are on the DNC Register list and they are committing a very serious crime by contacting you for which they can be tracked, arrested and charged. Demand they immediately remove all your details from all their lists and never call again.
As much as the above possible solution is a good idea, it's not 100% guarantee you won't get these nuisance/fraud calls, so here are a few more suggestions:

Possible solution (2) For those who have a silent phone number or can block their own number (test 1st), some may wish to call these frauds on the number they called them, and perhaps make/have something in your hand/close by that makes a loud horrible noise (eg: very loud whistle, screams, vomiting sounds, or on the lighter side, juicy fart noises like the sounds that come out of the Fart gadget that is part of the children's 'Gas Out' game, and some of them sound like they had "follow-through" and really gross ;)), and when they answer, feel free to share it with them, or if they don't answer, be sure to leave it as a message on their message recording device/option like I may have just done - a few times for around 2 minutes. Quite exhilarating!! :)), -- because you don't want to be discourteous and just hang up!! ;)).

Possible Solution (3) Some may wish to call the number that calls them and when they answer, don't say a word (make sure no other voices, sounds, company/names, etc., can be overheard), just listen, then do it again, and again, and ........... BTW, don't forget to share that number with any other people you know who have silent numbers/can block their own number (test 1st) and are willing to join the fun :)

Possible solution (4) Some phones have a Incoming call Barring option (Caller ID subscribers only) of which you can put numbers in that you don't want to get calls from, and as I have just found, it works like a charm!! :))

Possible Solution (5) Some may wish to perhaps give out the number that calls them, to everyone and anyone who is willing to join the fight to stop these nuisance callers, by calling that number themselves as often as they like, and telling the person who answers the call whatever problems they may have at the time (feel free to embellish), including any health problems, etc., - as apparently those frauds, er, I mean people are apparently very good listeners. :)).

Possible Solution (6) Some may wish to perhaps give the number that calls them to other fraudulent scam companies to ...... (who cares!!)

Possible Solution (7) Some may wish to warn/inform as many good people as possible about these frauds, and offer some of the possible solutions options if it happens to them.

I hope that all helps in some way, but if not, at least I've put a smile on some stressed out faces.

Good luck to us all.
Cheers!!
