I have this number diverted to "It's Lenny" - Google it. I hope he enjoyed his chat with someone better at wasting time than he is.

I was just called by this number, which I didb't recognise but seemed familiar. After looking here, I remembered that I'd received calls from this number, before. I'm glad I didn't answer it.

Really? Then you would know the convention in Australia is to put the $ at the start like this; $9000 not this; 9000$
Funnily enough, the convention in India is to write amounts like this; 9000INR
Coincidence?
By the way, here is a quote from the Accident Helpline website, who are apparently genuine;
"If you have received a call from an overseas call centre claiming to be Accident Helpline, please be aware that it is not us. Accident Helpline never make cold calls of this nature. We have reported the matter to relevant authorities in an attempt to stop them masquerading as our company. It is recommended not to provide any personal information."

Received a call from the "Accident Investigation Company" call to my mobile today 18/10/16 from a male calling himself Mark. I asked a few questions and he hung up pretty quickly. This is the second time they have called me recently so I have reported them to scamwatch. Beats me why the authorities can't shut them down, although they are all digital phone numbers these days and perhaps it is more difficult to track them.

Yes they are scammers. Call center scammers. This guy called Mark (with a foreign accent) just called my work phone. I was quite terse with them and said "who was it here that has had an accident?" He did not know.... Yeah right mate. You are the idiot. DO not engage with them. Hang up, or keep them on the line only if you want to toy with them a little bit :)

Received a call from this number to my unlisted phone. Totally different modus operandi to the others reported though.
I got an Australian male, who simply parroted back every word I said. Bizarre!

Called today from this number and was asked if any family member had been in an accident, when asked why they needed to know they hung up, we have a silent number interesting to know how they got hold of it.

Similar experience to what others are reporting, a man with an Indian accent called, claiming to be from the Accident Investigation Commission, and requesting we recall any accident that we'd had in the last 12 months. I told him the call sounded fraudulent and hung up.

It's an offshore scam. Being on a do not call list does not help, and a silent number can be reached by using a computer to just automatically go through numbers.
Further info in this 'accident investigation' scam, in the link below. They will either attempt to collect enough personal info from you to commit fraud in your name, or sell your details as part of a 'sucker list' to other scammers:

Multiple calls in the early evening. Have never answered as we do not use our landline for any kind of communications. Interesting feedback on this page, thanks all.

They ring our landline (silent) every day at least twice and I don't answer and they never leave a voicemail, I'm going to answer next time and string them along for a bit!

We have received repeated calls (sometimes several times a day) from this number and another 07 number over the past several months. It has caused significant stress to my wife and I. It is the same 'accident investigation unit scam' described by others here. The calls always start with a slight delay and a faint 'beep' as if the line is being switched through an Australian number to an overseas number.
The voice on the other end varies male/female, but always has an Indian accent. In one of the early calls, I spent a short time trying to draw out from a female caller the details of the call. According to her, our car had been involved in a motor vehicle accident where we were at fault. The female caller was calling on behalf of an insurance company investigation unit representing the other party. When I asked for details of the alleged accident, she could not provide them. I then accused of her of trying to engage in a fraud and she hung up.
