So I am calling them back and trolling them like they do to everybody else. A guy "Chris" answered the phone. I asked him to give me their ABN to prove they are Australian and he provided me with an ABN that belongs to a Sole Trader in the ACT.
I am slowly on a mission to shut down all these numbers by playing them at their own game!

I just had this number ring no less than 10 times within 30 minutes. Each time it was picked up it was silence and then hung up. I then proceeded to call this number numerous times in a row. Apparently the scammers do not like to be scammed and feel the need to hang up continuously or answer and then hang up anyway. What a joke and a waste of company time!!!

Got two calls from this number within 10 minutes. Each time I answer they hang up. They have called me previously wanting to discuss "the accident you were in recently". I told them there was no accident, recently or otherwise, and to not call me again. Clearly they didn't understand the DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN bit.

Have had four missed calls in 24 hrs on my home number, two from this number. No message left. However a similar no. rang my workplace same day & when I answered with .....Meals on Wheels they hung up. I rang them straight back & asked who they were & why ring then hang-up as it's very rude & annoying. Said they were an Accident Ins. agency & were informed someone at this no. was involved in an accident. I told them that info was incorrect & sounded like a scam & if you don't agree then you must be the scammer, surprise, surprise, they hung up. Hadn't heard of this scam before but will pass on the info to everyone. So sick of these interruptions at work!!

I wouldn't panic about your silent number aspect. As I understand it these pricks (as do telly marketers) have a system (machine) auto dialling numbers that have obviously been loaded from Telstra. They really don't know who you are, unless you tell them. Also the system can recognize an answering machine and hangs up after a pause. Would be surprised if anyone has one of these callers actually talking on the answering machine. Phone numbers are recycle some become "silent" other don't by user choice. A genuine Telly marketer will take your number off their auto dial system if you politely ask, they can't afford to waste time cold calling if your not interested.

Popped number into here to check before answering. Said that they had called my business and asked to take number off their calling list.

Called my MIL on their silent number, citing a car accident in the family - unfortunately she gave out my mobile number as I had been in an accident years ago, she was unwitting to the scam in progress :(

Magnificent one, Bec! I wonder if those lawyers acted on them, though, as they would surely have had some decent details to go on (address/acct #, etc).

DEADLY SCAMMER SAYING SOMEONE HAS HAD AN ACCIDENT IN YOUR FAMILY
Posted on October 8, 2015 Caller type: Scam Location: Australia
This arse hole rang me up and said he was from vehicular Accident Investigations Unit and was investigating an a car Accident. I enquired as to the meaning of his call (his Indian Accent) and he revealed to me that someone in my family had just been in a car accident and he was investigating it. I further pursued this person to reveal why he called me and not the Police. He then kept answering my questions with another question and i mirrored him then said he's being REPORTED TO THE POLICE NOW.

Similar to others, had a call from a 'Chris' with an Indian accent claiming to be from 'the' accident insurance agency about the accident within the last 2 years. I told him I was reporting him for attempting to defraud. The thing that has me really angry though is I have a silent number, and very few people have it, so how did they get it? I thought I was safe with a silent number, have been for many years.

Just been called twice by this number. First time they hung up in my ear. Tried to tell me that he was calling about an accident that I had last year. My response was I have never had a car accident as I don't drive or have a car (my own little lie) - he hung up very quickly.

Just had a female caller saying she was from Accident Help Line, looking for the resident at my address who had an accident in the last two years, when I said I was quite sure no one at my address had, she was persistent saying "are you sure it may have only been a small hit in the back of the car". When I again said no I was confident nobody had been involved in an accident she said "she would have to check her paper work, and have a nice day.
