Insurance scam, saying he was from 'Sydney Claims Lawyers' about a no fault accident , and I could be entitled to $4200!! Lucky Me ! He said the address of his company was 1/133 Hunter St Newcastle, and this was the phone number. Very persistent even when I told him I knew it was a scam. His Name was 'Steve Johnson' lives in Newcastle but didn't know who the Knights are.

Hehe these pricks are going to get a real shock when the realise I have scammed them back!!! I made up a whole bunch of policy numbers, accident claim numbers etc, date of accident, police report number, rego number, date of birth, address etc. the lawyers did actually call me because the scammers did pass this info on.. I informed the lady of what I had done. I think what the scammers do is try to claim to be you after u give them a policy number etc and get the chq mailed to them. Hehehe they are probably waiting on my "$15,000" cheque hehehehe suckers

Just received the call from a "Emma Watson" from this number. She told me it was about an accident that a family member had in the last 3 years. I told her that I was from the Western Australian Police & I was in the Fraud Squad and I was going to get my colleges in New South Wales to come around to speak to her personally. She hung up very quickly.

Claimed to be from an Accident compensation company just seeking information on an accident we had somewhere in the state.
Too vague and no real detail

I asked them how they got the details of my áccident ' they said they got my information from a 'department ' RACQ, suncorp and other insurance incompanies. I then said, "well thats interesting becuase its not true, I am recording this call, f**k off now, I have your number and you are being reported. And if you start abusing me, that is being recorded as well" and she hung up. The last call like this they started going off their tits when I told them to F off, hence the last part. All recorded today and looking for how to get the ph number shut down.

Spoke with someone with some artificially anglicized name. Makes me wonder why they allow AU numbers to route overseas. Dude was asking about a car accident in the last three years so they can send me my compensation cheque. I was like why would I get compensated, he said you weren't at fault, I pointed out that irrespective my insurance fixed the damage to my car (I was playing along, as a lawyer stuff like this is interesting to me!) and he claimed it was for my 'discomfort' and could be around $4,000+. I said I wasn't injured in the accident, he said it wasn't whether I was injured but for being put out by the accident and distressed then asked for my phone number 'to call me back' (ie: they verify they have your details to continue the con and not waste time on overseas routed calls so call them if you want to cost them money) so I gave him the phone number of the Australian Federal Police fraud department and told them it was my home number. :)

I just had the same call. An indian guy said his name is Chris and was with the accident department. I said no thanks, not interested. Only because I was warned yesterday from my neighbour and daughter in Bundaberg, who got the same call.

have just had call from this number, asking if anyone at our number had had a car accident in the last 12 months, sounded suss, so after pleading dumb and not understanding, finally said that there had been no accidents....was told that she had probably rung the wrong number. Incidentally, they are reaching into Far North Queensland. Be aware.

Some grub purporting to be from "Accident Helpline" about an accident somebody from my number had last year. Got half smart. Sounds like an offshore call centre being routed through an Aussie number to bypass the Don Not Call set-up.

You're absolutely right-it's a scam and they're fishing for information (for identity theft and to try to get monetary compensation that isn't theirs, if not just money sent to them perhaps as a 'fee' for their 'services' allegedly helping people get compensation for injuries or emotional trauma etc. The number is no longer in service but they've probably moved onto another one (or two). See my previous detailed post made around 9:30pm (7 minutes ago) this (Friday) evening (AEST NSW time) regarding when the 'Car Accident Scam' telephoned me back 10th August at 10:17am this year (2015). Regards, Zirnitra.

Call from this number, Chris, who also obligingly gave his mobile number of 0424 170 909 (probably false). Said he represents 3 insurance companies, NRMA, RACQ & SUNCORP, and was calling about a motor vehicle accident that occurred last year. He had my name, address and phone number - of course I didnt admit that I was the person calling. Getting to be a real nuisance. Lodged a complaint form with the Do Not Call Department.

Called our business place wanting to speak to the person who had had an accident. Told him no one here has had a car accident, so he apologized for calling the wrong number and hung up. I am surprised this guy was so nice compared to the other 3 rude calls we have had from them!
