This awful lot have started phoning my business twice a day since last week. Luckily since we put a menu onto our phone system they can't get through and talk to anyone. The only reason I know they're calling is because we log all incoming caller ID and those calling without caller ID can only leave a message. If anyone rings and wants to update their database it's always for spam marketing and you should hang up at that point, and NEVER use the word yes, just grunt then hang up.

This firm Retone phoned and the caller lead the employee to believe that the employee's firm used Retone for their photocopier. Retone started off with a sweetener - a bottle of wine or a voucher, take your pick. They had the details of the make of copier and said this machine used on average of 6 toner cartridges a week. They recorded the whole conversation as well and are using this as "evidence" that they are entitled to charge over $3,000. So their methods have changed but they are still operating in a very deceptive manner. Avoid Retone!!

ReTone has stringent policies in place to ensure that customer queries are resolved within 48 hours.

Unfortunately it appears that something went wrong in this instance, and we would like to have the opportunity to train or discipline the staff member/s involved to ensure that our company policies and values are upheld, and our customers treated with care and respect.

Without knowing your company details it is difficult for us to properly assess your enquiry. We can search by phone number and company name on our computer system, but not by contact name. (We did try Googling “Shaun Atley Abbotsford”… but mainly got listings for an Aussie Rules football player…)

Would you be so kind as to contact me directly on (02) 6639 5021 to let us know who you are? Alternatively, you may prefer to direct your enquiry via email to free @ vop.com.au

We have only just found out about this post, and can see that it dates back to July - so we would hope that your query has now been resolved. However if not, and assuming that this is a genuine complaint, we are confident that we will be able to resolve your matter promptly once you make contact with us. To expedite this process, please quote reference number OLC169.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards

I'm in New Zealand and they just rang me and it didn't seem right. Now reading this makes sense now not to deal with them at all.

I am the National Manager of a major company within Australia. We would like to share our story and WARNING for anyone, especially businesses, who get a call or unsolicited products from Retone.
1. Retone is dodgy and what they attempt to do is highly illegal. They start with unsolicited calls claiming to have your business on account and asking if you require any toner or other office supplies. They then proceed to try to twist your words to get you to say anything 'close' to yes.
## We experienced this and after a none-the-wiser staff member said yes to toner we received a package soon after with an invoice for products with inflated prices. Long story short - when I found out about this I called the number on the invoice and spoke with a young rep who assured me that the goods would be collected for return. 18 months later and multiple calls which included threats from Retone to action debt collection, we ended up throwing the cartridges out and threatening legal action ourselves. All calls stopped.....for a while.
2. About 6 months later I personally took a call from a rep who proceeded to try to get information from me such as my name. (I only provided my first and refused to provide my last). The fax/printer models we use (I refused to give them any information). Phone numbers and email addresses (again refused to give them). To my amazement she continued to keep trying to tell me in multiple ways that she would order our toner. I made it clear that "NO! We do not want your business and do not approve any orders so don't send anything.". I was able to get a full name and email address from her which I proceeded to send an email to stating we do not want any toner or any other products from Retone.
3. Low and behold 2 weeks later a parcel arrives with 3x toner cartridges in it. NOW IT GETS AMUSING. The invoice was attention-ed to my first name and a completely random last name. (eg - John Smith is my real name and it was attentioned to John Balls). Then the TYPE of cartridges were for a printer we got rid of over 2 years ago and would have been useless to us (because remember I expressly refused to provide my printer make and model they must have assumed we had the same one).
ALSO our company has had a contract with the same national supplier for over 3 years. All of our toner and office supplies come from them on an electronic min/max system. We have storage lockers at each of our offices around the country for our supplies and the supplier does weekly checks themselves and reorders as needed. Our staff wouldn't even know how to order stationary.
4. I proceeded to call the company Retone and spoke to a rep who never apologised and didn't even question the reason I wanted to return the goods. I told her in no uncertain terms that we did not order them and if they weren't picked up within 14 days then they would be disposed of.
We are still waiting to hear back so lets see how it goes.

They just called our offices and a very friendly sounding, well mannered salesperson completely took advantage of one of our staff. Their script is designed to confuse and they will take advantage of your confusion.
