Scammer left generic answering machine message using an automated female voice threatening legal action if call is not returned on this number. No mention of any names or 'business'.

I just got a call saying they were ATO and suggesting me to get a lawyer and saying a serious lawsuit is being filed against me and to call him back. I reported it to the tax office as I knew it was a scam.

I received a message from this number saying to call them back about an important time sensitive legal issue. I rang the number twice well within normal business hours, and received a 3 bleep call signal and then disconnection. Clearly some sort of mischief making.

So most of us know this is a scam, most probably overseas (Indian?) based. Unfortunately it probably tricks elderly people sometimes who get their money stolen.
Ever wondered why is there a flood of scam calls from overseas? Why your details are known to them? It is because Australian corporates decided a few years ago to increase profits by making Australians redundant and outsourcing their call centres to India etc,.
The countries are inherently corrupt, so the overseas calls centres promptly steal the customer data & set up scam centres. My question is: What is the ACCC, ATO etc. doing about it? Nothing, that's what. These scumbags are free to prey on the Australian public, thanks to the corporates who are penny-pinching, and nothing ever gets done about it thanks to the toothless hounds we have who are meant to protect consumers.
Want to fix it? Write to your MP about this issue. Or maybe to Pauline Hanson because the main parties do not listen, they do not even pretend to represent the people who vote for them anymore.

'Scam' acting to be ATO claiming to have a law suit against me. I asked what is my number and he did not respond to any questions. It was then that I learnt its been pre recorded and knew it was a scam. So I hung up!

'John' rang 28.3.17. Indian accent which changed to Scottish when I heckled him for more info about him and his company. Re motor vehicle accident ( haven't had one!) - company called Insure? He got upset when I kept demanding full details of 'accident' - date, make of vehicle, his details. Finally he swore- told me I was confusing him and hung up

I also got the same recorded message from this so-called "Australian Tax Office" person talking about a "serious lawsuit". I called the number back immediately and spoke to the same Indian person. I asked him to identify me as he already knows my phone number. He stammered for a moment before I gave him "the good news" and hung up on him.
Why can't Telstra take any action against scam callers? I am a shift worker and do not need these relentless scam calls disturbing my sleep.

Received recorded message, claiming to be an officer of the ATO, taking me to court case # CV1139, and to call them back on this number. Reported to ATO, who confirmed was a scam.

Scam call the same as the others. Interestingly it became a robocall after our answering machine picked it up - when I then intervened and answered the robocall just kept going

Had a call . Unusual that some one would say "good bless you" at the end of message. They even quote a file number to give when you ring back. Be careful and do not respond

Received a message today threatening legal action and suggesting I get an attorney. Picked it as a scam straight away. Didn't use any names or anything and God Blessed me at the end of message.

Heavily accented gentleman claiming to be from the ATO. Obviously a recorded message as I was unable to get the person to speak to me. I asked who they were referring to and they just kept rambling on with their nonsense............
