Same people tried to scam my 83 year-old mother. (02) 6140 3411 was the number given and the voice was a woman with a foreign accent.

Had the same call, but from number (02) 6140 3491. 26 June 2015.
Obviously a scam. Male person calling had a Philippines accent.

Like others have said, scam. No asking for anyone in particular, no way for them to have new number, no name left to ask for when return call. Lots of American words, like detain, state or territory cooperation, affiliated with ATO. Sounded like pre-recorded American guy, pretty unclear voice.

Sounds like a recorded message saying that its the Department of Public Prosecutions acting on behalf of the ATO and they have received an affidavit regarding tax evasion. Asks you to not delay in calling back as this may lead to criminal charges, but doesn't name which member of the household needed to call back.

there is a scam associated with this number. They claim to be from the ATO and you have an outstanding fine. Don't pay any money and report it to the police. They sound very convincing and use a lot of legal terminology but just hang up. The ATO does not operate like this

She has rung and left me a message and rung again. It is clearly a scam. I hope no one is silly enough to take this strongly Asian accented woman seriously.
