My turn tonight. I had Lincoln from Windows. Just indulged him and said I was on my laptop. What I cannot believe is that this is still happening. We all have the same phone number. How have they not been caught yet or at least got a new number to scam on. Will report it to the appropriate authorities and hopefully this time something will be done about these criminals xoxo

received the same kind of call today at 8.30 pm from Andy from company called "Windows log service for help", said they want to help me as I had error in downloading a programme today and I had reported errors. I got suspicious as I was not on computer for last few days!!!. I asked them the phone number so they gave this number and then I asked them the ABN number and they said they cannot give it to me. I asked them not to call me and hung up.. They called up again but I hung up again. They have not called back.... Everyone beware it looks like they want to track information on our computer.. I will certainly see if this can be reported to police and other agencies to investigate..

hi ALL

had a call from Windows Service Centre in Sydney yesterday -- said my computer had been infected with virus etc...said they could upgrade my software etc... all i needed to do was log onto my computer and follow a few simple steps... i was suspicious; asked her for their phone number so i could call them back (to check their authenticity etc) -- gave me this number (02) 6100 4030/">(02) 6100 4030. i smelt a rat (because just the day before, i had spent $240 to have my computer checked. it's all good now) -- now this call from Windows. suspicious, i didnt go through, and hung up...

this email is to remind you -- it's a SCAM -- do not entertain such calls.

this morning i googled that phone number -- and came to this -- http://www.reverseaustralia.com/lookup/(02) 6100 4030/

check it out.

dear ones, just to inform, what these scammers do is when you log onto your computer, they have access to what you are typing (if you "follow the few simple steps'' as instructed) they can trace everything, every key stroke that you've done on your computer -- including banking details etc etc...

so BEWARE.

Just had almost identical experience as (Jim September 28, 2011)did from this same number, only difference was "Michelle" and manager "David" who was clearly indian with a poor attempt of an aussie accent.

Called Microsoft this morning to reported it. They have send some material to me for review

Got a call tonight after 9pm, similar to most of the complaints above, strung them out for as long as I could. I didn't have call ID, but I asked for the phone number, and they gave this one. I am on the do not call register, and almost never use my landline. It is not listed, and VERY FEW places know it. Pretty dissapointing really to know that they can still get my number and try to scam it. How many people that aren't computer savvy get caught I wonder.

Clearly they get more than what the penalties are for this conduct. shame.

Sick of getting these calls!! Had Becky call, straight up knew she was a scam and played her trying to waste her time to the 10 min mark, only achieved the 8 min mark! Called back on her number she supplied 3 times and was told she would call me back. Then called on my mobile and said I was a detective from the AFP doing a major investigation and wanting to talk to the manager, of course got the hang up! Tried once more and of course no answer, until I googled and saw the digits to go as a silent number and hello they answered... Played them for a couple of minutes and of course they hung up, seriously why do we still continue to get these calls!!!!!

Same call, same number, this time from 'David'. His company (Log For Help) he claimed was based at 1 Epping St North Ryde. Looked it up on Google Maps, its actually Epping Rd. The background street noise etc was definitely more Mumbai than Ryde. Said he was Philipinno, but was definitely Indian (knew his cricket as well). He knew my suburb.

I got the same call, saying they were from mirosoft and that my computer had lots of errors and warning that needed to be fixed. The guy's name was David (Indian Accent), and said the company was based in Sydney Chatswood,he tried to get me to log on to a website, which i googled whilst he was talking about getting me to get on the page, it turns out that the website is frequently used by scammers www.logmein123.com the website allows people to get remote access to yopur computer so be very aware.

Just had a call that showed this number. Some sort of hurdy gurdy music was playing, then it hung up. I'm sure it's these scamming morons.
