Caller: Sam and Shaun the same guy
(02) 8355 7878 is the number he contacted me on pretending to be trend micro and gave me 1800 985 148 to contact him back on
Caller: 1800 985 148
Total scam. Initially got a call from (02) 9160 7360 and I let go through to message bank. A guy calling himself "Robert" with a thick Indian accent left a message saying my Norton security is showing threats and has been compromised and to call him back on this 1800 number asap to have it fixed.
Guy claimed norton was not working and tried to upsell it for 300, obvious scammer Caller: Ricky Behl from 'PCTECH Australia'
Complete scam. My family was scammed out of money from these disgusting people on this number, as well as 1800 244 918. Don't fall for it people!! Only use your local trusted/well-known pc tech support providers.
Same scam # 1800 985 148, Robin Hatt (?) claiming to need to update my Trend. This phone number is now on my mobile phone that I only use/keep for emergencies, as my husband had a heart attack a while ago !
The only people that would/should know is Telstra so how they got it I don't know. The fooled me into giving the a sub of $ 299.99 last april, making me
think they were Micro Maxium Security which I have already got on my computer and thought it was a new sub. Since then I have found out they are scammers.
My daughter, who works for the Police, knows all about them and I now ignore them, swipe them, or just block them on my emails. They are a pest and why the original Trend Micro Maximum Security company has not got rid of them by now is beyond me !
Caller: Technician Jack & previously Ricky Behl
The company is TECHNET https://www.technetonlines.com.au/contact.html
other contacts 1800 985 148 & 1800 244 918. I contacted TECHNET asked for the manager who verified they have the technicians as listed above.
On the initial contact I believed I was contacting Norton with difficulties in setting up protection on my mobile phone.
TechNet (Ricky Behl) scanned my computer set up Norton on the mobile phone as requested and I accepted 'one year unlimited tech support' for one year for $400 in March 2019.
I was contacted by TECHNET on 6/12/2019 to advise that Norton automatic updates were not working. I returned the call on 9/12/2019 to check what problem.
A technician (Jack) remotely scanned my computer remotely and found updates (Norton & Windows) were not downloading automatically and drivers were not up to date.
I checked this, updated Norton & and found windows already had current updates.
Jack offered further service for ~$250 or $300 depending on what I chose.
The approach was aggressive and appeared to be a scam as all was up to date except some current drivers which I think I do not need.
On checking, TECHNET appears genuine, but the aggressive (Indian English?)handling and selling services totalling $700 sounds excessive.
Talk to the manager and check it out for yourself.
Caller: scammer called, named tony and/or Ricky Beh
they tried to scam me pretending they were from trend antivirus and it was about to expire. they sounded indian, so i looked up the phone number and boom! they were scammers
PCTECH24 are a legitimate company that have several toll free phone numbers. They are an Australian company with an ABN number but their techies work from India which is common these days. I have been using them for several years now. They do occasionally call trying to sell software but that is their business. All you have to do is say no to them like any sales person.
My dad got a pop up to say there is something wrong with his computer. He was told to call a number and a speak with Ricky beh. Ended up speaking to jack instead. It all felt extremely dodgy, took 40 mins for him to do nothing. I googled this number and up came this postings (thank you!!). Told him to hang up and shut down. He couldn’t understand why I did that when 18 months ago he paid them $600 for support ☹️☹️☹️ Poor dad got scammed already.
Caller: AVG ?
Something wrong with my Security account...couldn't understand all the message as accent involved.
Caller: Robin Hatt
Tied to sell me Windows 10 Firewall for #399 US as he said mine wasn't installed properly and it's never free. As it turns out Windows 10 Firewall is automatically installed on your computer. Never give these guys any money - they are scammers!
Also tried to sell me Defencebte for $48.95 as he said I needed a third party antivirus.
Scammer. Took a large some of money from a relative for doing nothing. BEWARE!
Numbers 1800 985 148 1800 244 918 Claiming to be a company PCTECH
Caller: Said it was norton
This is a scam. Said we needed to pay extra $278 usd for life long net work protection. We were loading norton anti virus protector and when we encountered a problem and submitted it the scammer Ricky Beh phoned within a minute and said he was from norton. But he wasn't. Very convincing.
Total scam...don't give any details!! Claimed to be calling re McAfee install last year...had details re an install made last year, not sure how they accessed that information! This is a Voice over Internet Protocol number and the VoIP provider is www.symbionetworks.com and you can check for a numbers VoIP provider here https://www.thenumberingsystem.com.au/#/number-register/search . I suggest we all call Symbio Networks each time we get a scam call from one of their VoIP customers and then maybe Symbio Networks will do something. Symbio Networks number is 1300 789 653. You must realize that Symbio Networks gets paid by the scammers that use their service and this is the reason Symbio Networks appear to be providing a safe haven to scammers. Caller: Scammers don’t answer
Pretend your computers norton is not working! If you challenge them - Sam or Alex- they usually hang up!
