Text supposedly from my Paypal account to say the payment of $455 from my booking.-com booking ref was being processed but not to fear my little one if i didn't make this booking i could click on the link for the phone number 1800 317 167 and speak to someone. Spam written all over it.

I received a text message which says that it is from PayPal Transaction Security Team that someone has just purchased a $469 Michael Kors handbag from David Jones - order reference # DJN-AU-2026-554312, Transaction ID PNW-2026-91028076. I called the 1800 number and spoke to an Indian gent who asked for my email, then a code came thru on my mobile which he asked for - I did not give it to him as a customer should never have to provide this code....SPAM! I have since called Paypal on (02) 8223 9500 and found that there correct toll free number is 1800 073 263 and that there are no pending transactions on my account.

Caller: Fake Paypal

Unfortunately my 82 year old father fell victim to this, receiving a message about booking.com transactions and he called this number from the message. Thankfully his bank intercepted the transaction attempts and nothing too serious happened.

Paypal account was accessed with $469 payment due to come out. Typical spam message.
