I had a call from someone telling me there was a problem with my computer. I said to give me their number and I would call them back when convenient for me. I was surprised that she obliged but it seems the number might be fictitious. Not surprised.

Caller: Indian? accent from "Windows technical" She Said I had a problem with my computer, gave the address of her company as 1 Epping Road North Ryde and she gave the name of company as Windows Technical. Was insistant on trying to get me to log in to my computer - which I said I didn't have - but she refused to listen and abused me for 'wasting her company time'. When I rang back this number, it was blocked number. When I called Microsoft, I got a similar sounding call centre, Indian accent and found Microsoft support is outsourced to India - so this may confuse some people. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY personal DETAILS, if you get called about an apparent problem with your perfectly good computer.
The number given was false, and it was disconnected

Showed as a private number but my husband asked the number. Claimed to be Windows technical support wanting to access to our computer.

Caller: Scammers Fake ' Windows Technical Support ' Calling for help with the virus I had apparently downloaded.
Could not tell me what Internet company I was connected with, nor that my main devices used were mobile phones – NOT my computer...
Thick Indian accents; other office like noise in the background, very convincing.
SCAM.

Caller: Jennifer Brown (with a very Indian accent) from windows Technical team Exactly the same for me - she said I had a problem with my computer that was affecting their server, and the address of her company as 1 Epping Road North Ryde.
Asked me to tell her what button was next to the Ctrl button on my computer, so i said the Fn, Windows, and Spacebar She then asked me to press the Windows key and R, so i just kept her on the line saying that i would not follow any of her instructions. I asked her to tell me what details she had on her screen to test if she knew my personal details. Eventually she just hung up the phone.
Be careful of these callers - thanks for sharing everybody!

Caller: "Maria from Boost" Just has a call from this woman with an Asian accent who claimed to be from Boost telecom. Our mobiles are on Boost pay as you go plans and we connect to the web via our phones. She claimed our computer had a problem. Asked for number to call back and got 1800 049 064.
Perhaps our slueths at the federal police could do something more challenging than harrassing journos and find these scammers and put them in front of a judge.

Had a call from someone called David Gomes who said he was from Windows at 1 Epping Rd, North Ryde with phone number 1800 049 064 and his ID was 08017. He said he was aware that I had a serious problem with Windows on my computer and he would give me instructions to enable me to change my computer settings. When I advised him that I would consult with my business manager he hung up.

Caller was from a very bad (static noise) connection, said he was from windows operations. Hesitated when I asked for a number to call back on & sounded like he was repeating what he was being told. Sounded like one of your typical overseas call center operators. Number he gave was 188 049 064 ask for Sam Rulan/Ruland??
