Caller: Unknown entity - definitely a scammer

This number is trying to record you saying your name (which is why you never say your name when you answer a call from an unknown number). This is definitely a scam tactic and I have blocked all calls.

There's not much to learn from tracing the number itself or looking up its location, these calls use VOIP and they spoof the number, which means they can make up whatever Caller ID they want to appear on your phone, so it looks like a number you might pick up. I was expecting an interstate call today then these guys called so I picked up, all I ever say is hello. NEVER use your name. If there's silence, say nothing, hang up. They'll call back, if you reject the call I find they tend to stop.
If you do actually get someone speaking to you they will usually ask "Is that...(your name)", don't ask "who's calling please" because they take that as a confirmation that you are prepared to talk to them. Just say, no I'm sorry you must have the wrong number. That way, you have some chance that they'll think, oh no this number and name info we purchased from some corrupt call center worker is wrong/out of date, and they stop trying. Maybe! But don't interact with them in any other way.
This is why it's bad when local companies out-source their call centers to India etc, because the workers there are low paid and there is a huge black market for info. They are the ones stealing and selling your info, not "hackers"! I left Vodafone because they have an Indian call center which I suspect is the source these spammers got me from. They should be employing locals to serve locals, and this is exactly why banks are no longer out sourcing call centers, because they know that's who is stealing credit card numbers etc when you have to tell an operator over the phone. It's not to be more "Australian", they don't care about that. They found out it was a major security breach and shut it down.
Also, if you ever register a web domain, you have to register your real contact details with it. ALWAYS do pay the fee to keep it private, I made that mistake once, worst I've ever made. By the end of that day the phone was ringing every few minutes with Indian and Asian phoney web-site developers trying to sell me a website, and hundreds of emails a week, 4 years later they are still passing that number and email around. It's called "scraping", be very careful who you list your details with.
Most of these callers aren't calling from Australia at all, even if they are they aren't using the number that comes up on call ID. That's why if you call it back it's usually disconnected, or some innocent person who knows nothing about it. There are websites where for a small fee the server places the call, it asks for the number you want to call and what number you want to appear in call ID. The main one is Russian. It's not over the normal phone network, it's just internet traffic, and somewhere at this end it reaches another server that dials you, so it can be from anywhere in the world.
There IS software that can help trace the calls by audible artifacts in the call, but it's very expensive and requires big systems to run on. So it means, you don't have an easy way to find out where the call is really coming from. But, it's from criminals and they are no good. Don't speak to them and get out of the habit of answering with your name, just say Hello, if anything, and if there's someone there at all remember all you ever should say is that it's a wrong number.
These are just criminals, give them nothing, never take ANY links from them or tell them anything. It will only be bad for you.
I used to answer with "Federal Police, Cyber crime unit, can I help you?" and they almost always hung up, but someone else always called back soon!

5 calls in a day, answered it as no message left. Domain ownership scam. I hung up after a brief discussion with Asian/English accent (Malay?).

Please don't do the whistle thing. Someone did that to me today, when I called them in an official capacity. Shocking. You could damage someone's hearing.
