I just received a call from this number. Whenever I get a call from QLD unknown number, I just accept the call but never say anything. Just silent.
Scammer will hung up. This works 100% so far. Then, block the number.

I am so sick and tired of all these nuisance calls. My phone calls are constant. After getting a quote and purchasing outdoor awnings. Bit of a coincidence maybe.. but that's when it started

The rural brigades receive funding from the emergency service’s levy collected by councils. They also are funded by the levies that are collected as part of your 3rd party insurance payable with your registration. Brigades no longer have to fund raise, and any brigades that are still trying to fund raise are in most cases waiting the funds provided on items such as 75inch televisions and other items that are simply not needed for a brigade to be operational.

Upon calling the Rural Fire Service from a number on their website, I was told that the number in question [(07) 5480 1369] isn't a list one of their numbers, and was most likely a scam.

They also stated that they don't call people asking for donations.

Don't mind helping people out but I am so wary know with all the scam calls happening that unless I see someone standing out the front of coles or woolies then I don't really want to give my card/bank details over the phone.

alot of miss information here
so disappointed I missed their call while on hold with woollies ...

their is a huge difference Between
"Rural Fire Brigade Service"
and
"Rural Fire Brigade Association QLD"

First thing I want to clear up is out of that $600+m the Gov collects only ~4% makes it to the Rural Fire Brigades and QLD is the only state in AU not 100% State Funded every brigade is their own organization , their was too much red tape involved that slows down their response time to allow Gov to have control

if you dig through
https://www.rfbaq.org/announcements
you will find all the political drama's

RFBAQ has been fundraising for QLD for over a decade now and is based in Gympie
as with any raffle's Legally they must provide 20% of the earnings as prizes , the rest goes into items the Brigades need as grants

also keep a look out for the "Hardship Grants" this covers FUNERAL Expenses of fallen VOLUNTEERS

https://www.rfbaq.org/previousgrants
they are 100% transparent all money is accounted for
https://www.rfbaq.org/financials

those fire trucks are hell expensive as well and almost half a million $ ea

yes they get donations while the country side is on fire but by then it is too late
the equipment is needed BEFORE the Fire Outbreaks

I work at the factory that Makes all the Firefighting Clothing used in Australia and NZ and I can tell you now even those are expensive and very time consuming to manufacture we can not keep up with the demand

charities are exempt from no call register - you would know if u took time to check - also exempt - educational institutions, government bodies, political parties, social researchers, opinion pollsters, plus product recalls (eg your car), appointment reschedules or reminders (eg your doctor, or your car service) -- check your facts !!

Caller: Rural Fire Brigades Association Qld (RFBAQ)

I received two calls from this number and they didn't leave a voice mail so I looked them up and found it's a known number from Rural Fire Brigades Association Qld (RFBAQ) raising funds for Queensland’s volunteer rural fire brigades. They talk about this and confirm that this is their phone number on their website: https://www.rfbaq.org/announcements?tgtPage=news&id=view,435 So while it's not a scam, it's still annoying that they have my number as I'm on the Do Not Call register which clearly doesn't not prevent charity calls.

Just adding that I also received a call from them but ignored as there is no reason for a (07) number to ring me. Looking through other comments, this numbers been used as a scams since about 2014.
