You are like all the rest....couldn't careless about peoples privacy , just continue to annoy with these stupid phone calls where no one speaks.

Perhaps the brigade should be done away with as like the police you're never around when wanted.

People are good hearted and do donate their hard earned cash but get fed up when they see this money being squandered on these silly calls!

I have requested to have number removed from the register...to no avail!

I am fed up of answering the phone, getting no reponse except after a few seconds the 'click' of the caller hanging up!!

I called this number and had an automated voice directing me to call (07) 5480 5130. I then called the number given and spoke to an appolgetic lady who informed me there must be a 'time lag'. I told her I thought it strange to have such calls as I don't have any problem except sometimes with overseas calls.

Reading these blogs here there seems to be a lot of others with the same 'time lag'!

I have requested my number to be removed from their system of which I was assured she was doing so as we chatted and if there are any future calls I will be reffering it to my MP. This stupid system I find very exasperating!

I will not donate over the phone! How do I know these people are who they say they are.

If you give any of these so called charities money they will pass your number on to every other beggar out there don't do it your phone will ring non stop. I donated to the police once they gave my number to the ses, fire brigade, life savers too many to remember but three calls a day every day for a year now these clowns are ringing again. NEVER AGAIN, blocked

I certainly will not make a donation over the phone, how do I know it is who they say they are. I donate to my local organisation when I want to and not from begging phone calls. These people like the Red Cross and RSPCA should be ashamed of themselves for utalising good hearted peoples donations this way!!

And as for asking these people to take me off their calling register, it is simply ignored.

Maybe it is some smart telemarketer earning lots of money somehow making it appear that they have reached so many people and earning great bonuses at our frustration, calls came in every day at 10:30 for a week, then following week 12:30. It is a shame I just can't get a voice on the other end because the hang up is very well timed, and to tell them thank you we have in the past kindly donated but choose to vary our charities , so please stop.

I screen all unknown callers through my answering machine and when this number called earlier today, all I could hear was a lot of talking and laughter from a number of people in the background. If this is indeed a charity, they certainly appear to waste a lot of time mucking about instead of doing what they're paid to do.

I am so sick of these calls. We are in the local fire brigade in our area and if we have a fire we have to put it out ourselves at our own expenses as we are too far away from any town firebrigade. All you are doing is turning any potential donators against you.

received a call this afternoon from this number and it was a hangup also. Am thinking that if it is a charity, perhaps they've got one of those automated caller programs to check when someone is home.
Given the number of these 'hangups' I have had in the last 3 days I won't be donating to any calling charities in future. Really annoying to take a call and be hung up on.

I understand that these people may need to ring for donations (painful as these calls are) but do they need to ring both my home number and my mobile number asking for donations!!!
RFBAQ how about checking before you ring or get whatever system you have to pick numbers fixed..

Has anyone made them aware that in there training they should not hang-up on potential customers? I am also all for donating to my local firies living in FNQ. I appreciate it must be hard to make these type of calls at the best of time let alone in the middle of an economic downturn but what happened to the old saying 'You catch more bees with honey then with vinegar!' A little further phone etiquette training will go a long way especially if the issue is of a language-barrier nature. Please let me know if this feedback actually gets passed on for them to address or should I just call the number back myself and speak with a supervisor!

They must be getting bored if they keep ringing my number - I wish they would spend the money fighting fires.

employee of RFBAQ - I don't believe a word of what you're saying. Furthermore, I don't think you are who you say you are.
Someone genuinely asking for donations would actually bother sticking around for people's calls, and not hang up when they answer.
Also, it's not a good practice to be pushy, or to try and guilt trip people, or to heavily pick on people that have said they can't afford it. That's the mark of a scammer that doesn't give two craps about anyone. It's hardly respectful.

Personally, I will never give out money to ANYONE over the phone, unless I know exactly who I am dealing with, like a buisness I am buying a product from.
For a supposed fire brigade, you're sure burning a lot of bridges!

The Do Not Call Register SHOULD block charities if the person wants it. It's MY phone, that's in MY house, and I should get a say on who gets to disturb my peace.
The phones are too open to scammers, like this number, and there's no way to see their identification otherwise.

I accept that the rural fire service do an amazing job. BUT, I never give any money to anybody over the phone - ever. Also why the harrassing phone calls? It makes me less interested in giving when you harrass. Calling and hanging up before I can answer the phone - two rings is B.S. Is also a good way to get listed in my phone as Call Centre, or Spammer.

You are asking me for a donation, be considerate that you are inteerupting my day, I may have just crawled out from under a machine to answer your call, I may need to wipe grease from my hands to answer the call - Don't be rude and hang up after 2 rings. If you call and hang up, it is a waste of my time - that will make me very unhappy, you will get nowhere. I don't call back either, that wastes more of my time and money on a phone call I did not need.

I used to give money to worthy causes that rang.
I don't know if these people have a "soft touch" list that they hand around, but suddenly my phone was ringing all the time. I give nothing over the phone any more. I wish everyone would do the same. Then we might get some peace.

We are NOT scammers, we are a legitimate fund raiser for Queensland Rural fire brigades and their volunteers. Please treat us kindly, the reason for the pause is that our calls are on a automatic dialer system and that is out of our control, but we raise funds for ALL brigades across Queensland, so if anyone wants to donate to their local Brigade we can pass on 100% of your donation to them and provide you with a tax deductable receipt. But the Art Union is a lottery and our organisation complies to all government regulations, and art unions are not tax deductable. Our call centre is based in Gympie.

Businesses cannot be on do not call register.......they should NOT hang up as soon as we say our business name.....it is just down right rude. Pretty sure they wouldn't like it happening to them. Yes, they may be a charity, but there is no need for rudeness. So Bob, you can rant all you like, it is not doing them any favours for their charity. As a business owner, it is not the way to get ppl to want to donate, or indeed, help out in any way.
