They are still at it. Why would anyone give their credit card details to a complete stranger on the other end of the line. People wonder why they get ripped off.

I received multiple calls on my mobile. When I get one like that I simple enter the number as a contact under a heading of F*%king Scammer or similar so that when they try again I know not to accept the call.

If its' the RFB, it'd be nice if they said something after I've stopped my noisy machinery and dug out my phone from under my winter woolies to answer their their call.

Get your facts straight. Only some councils collect levies, and even then it's no where near enough to cover everything a brigade does. I can only assume your brigade is very inactive...

Yep - same deal as many others. Rings at dinner time then hangs up when someone answers. Not the right people to be using if you want people to donate to a worthwhile cause. Unacceptable!

Simply incorrect. Perhaps some intelligent fact checking is requiring? Only some brigades get funding from local councils.

The problem isn't what the fund raising is for, the problem is that it's a scam and they have nothing to do with the cause.

I too received my first call which resulted in the remote party terminating the call without communicating to me. Silence and then a hang up.

For those getting calls on their mobiles and who do not wish to get them, simply block the number.

They constantly ring my home phone and hang up not leaving a message. I have to check from work (I get notified if there is a home message) in case it is about my elderly mother ... its annoying.

If a business cannot have a registered name, address whatever picked up when number is checked. to me is a scammer. I don't care what the person does they need top have a legit. Name...Phone Number...Address... easily found on Google & White Pages. I have been scammed for $3500 on a web site stating they were in Sydney but had a false virtual office only. Not good enough in todays "computer world".

They get snotty if you tell them that your not interested. If i was going to donate to a charity i defineatly would not do it over the phone i would do it in person or by mail to registered mailing address do not respond to these even if they are collecting for the so called rural fire brigade they would be keep 80 to 90% of the money as so called adminstration fees so if you feel so strongly about donating do it personally and not through these blood suckers
