My council rates for my home include "fire levy" towards rural fire service. Then they also ring like beggars. Now i've blocked this number.

I received notification that (07) 5480 1369 had left me a voice message. The phone did not ring before the message was sent. There is no message and no noise. Now deleted

I didnt answer it. My caller id app identified this number as royal fire collections. No business on the net with this name. I blocked it

When I answered, no one spoke for about five seconds, then a hang-up - again!

Call lasted about 11 seconds, when i answered no one said anything on the other end........my "Who Called Me" App said that it was suspicious when it rang, shouldn't of answered, wasted my time, have blocked the number now but no doubt they will just ring back on another line.

This is an art union raffle sales number.

Strange! Earlier today I was briefly sucked in by a Microsoft/LogMeIn Rescue site, unfortunately I had already given them my name, number & email before I clicked and just now this number...which hung up as soon as I answered. I would say the 2 are related. scam companies probably sell our information on to other scammers.

Rang at least twice a day for a long time. Rural fire brigade scam.

It doesn't matter how many "don't call" registers you are on or whether you have an unlisted number, the process is a computer system creating random numbers, dialling them consecutively until they get someone that picks up and the scam begins. They do it with phone numbers, credit card numbers, all sorts of identity and personal information. It is purely just luck when they get a number that someone picks up at the other end. That's why they cannot supply the supposed "phone number broker" by company name. There is none. There also seems to be a little confusion in regards to the information stated on the Rural Fire Brigade website about this phone number and whether it is stating this is or is not a legitimate Brigade donation number. How I read it, they are stating that if you have caller id, the scammers number will display looking like this ....... I think the so called "legitimate" people commenting on this number saying it is not a scam, are actually the scammers themselves. Upon wanting to write this comment, I was asked to put in "my name" and just for curiosity sake I tried to type into the box the exact same names as I've read comments from already and suprise surprise.....it let me post under names as seen below. As I read through this, I noticed a complaint comment written regarding a pin number being requested and supplied incorrectly by the caller and then further on at a later date (posted under the same supposed "name") another comment stating along the lines of "oops, it was legit call...blah blah blah" (not an actual quote of exact words but you get the gist). I suggest should you want to donate to your local or not-so-local Rural Fire Brigade, ring them, visit their locations or find another way to donate to such a worthy much appreciated cause and not to these randoms calling you.
