It is not Rural Fire Brigade Queensland - not their number. I just don't understand what the caller gets from making a call then hanging up? I have my number listed on DO NOT CALL register and it's worthless

Not sure if it was the real Rural Fire Brigade or not, but they are at it again asking to buy tickets. Told them i was not interested

Buy a Call Guardian telephone for $48 from Telstra and no mongrel scam callers will get your telephone to ring. I have had mine for three years, and during that time, not one mongrel has been able to contact me.

I must be the biggest a**hole on the planet, as I do not answer phone numbers that I do not already have stored in my phone, with the exception of private numbers. In any event under no circumstances will I give $$ to anyone, regardless of how important their cause is or how desperate they might be. Charity begins at home & as a disability pensioner I already live below the poverty line. If you are blessed with good health, high income & have spare $$ after paying for all the living expenses, raising three children & keeping up with the Jones's. Feel free to donate to whomever you choose! Having a rant about it good or bad, on a third party app site, to people whom you do not know & possibly don't care about, just reaffirms the narcissistic plague sweeping this country. Try keeping a referees whistle beside phone - warn caller before using of course - discourages the most ardent scammer

Called this morning, 11:41. On answering, a female Australian voice (real person) went through some sort of introduction. No idea what she said (I have a problem with Female Australian accents) so asked her to repeat more slowly and clearly. "Oh, I'd better let you go then" and hung up.

May have been calling from a real number, in which case, the Telcos should maintain a shared auto-block database or it may have been spoofed number. Outside possibility it was legitimate but I doubt it.

I answered the call and was told that the person was raising funds for RFS and they were auctioning off a 4WD through raffle tickets. They were clearly reading from a script. I told the person that I currently donate to my local SES group and they hung up. While I cannot say for certain if this was a scammer or not, it is unfortunate in this day and age there are so many people trying to scam others that it is hard to sort through who is legit and who isn't. If it was the RFS I do hope they look at different options for trying to raise funds because many people may want to help but like me, will not do so over the phone.

Rang my mobile twice within 1 minute and did not leave a message. Looks like they are at it again.

Same with all these cold calls. Press answer and do not speak, if there are no audible sounds or voices and the phone hangs up, then add that number to auto reject list. If there is a wave of foreign languages in the background, its a call center and def hang up, add to auto reject list. Getting bloody tired of all these cold calls on the mobile. They just call from another number.

Not true. Need to fundraise to help the about 97% of Queensland covered by the Rural Firies.

(07) 5480 1369 phoned me at 6:00 pm. Stopped after first ring for some reason but went to my message bank - just a woman with a croaky voice having a conversation with someone else - mustn't have realised she phoned me - no idea who or what they wanted.

I Answered the call but there was no one on the other end. I have blocked the number.
