Yup verified, the number is faked on ID display and is actually disconnected.
Obvious marketing company using dirty tactics. Have reported their use of a fake number to the telecommunications ombudsman.

Numerous calls from (07) 3087 1759 the last few days, which I didn't answer as unknown caller. When I did call to check, it says the number is disconnected. I have also had 5 x call attempts from (07) 3119 8095 the few days prior. I don't answer unknown callers and have now blocked both these numbers.

This guys told me they are doing survey for centrelink. They are very rude. But they know my name and which centrelink I went. I was wondering how is that happening.

Caller: Do not answer Just block it. They will still call on dozens of other numbers because thats what these people do so block them as well. Its too easy for scammers to misuse the phone networ and the Do Not Call Register laws are too weak and allow research/surveys to call you anyway, which they do repeatedly and persistently from many changing numbers to prevent you blocking them easily.

I received 5 phone calls back to back, I rejected the first call and the phone rings again from another number without skipping a beat. Clearly these are robo calls.

Caller: They said market research for Centrelink Answered the call and they were trying to get me to answer some questions about Centrelink customer experience. I said I hadn't dealt with Centrelink for many years and they still insisted. Then I told them that I work for Centrelink and that I would probably be biased at which they gave up.

Did not answer, but checked on Reverse Directory. This is a ploy to find out if phone numbers are active or not. If you answer the call, as people here have said, you will probably get a "disconnected number" message. But what it really is is that they ring random numbers (even if you are a no-call register like I am) and if you answer then they know that your number is active, and the next thing you will find is that you will start receiving "nuisance" calls from all over the place. My advice - block the number.
