Caller: Suncorp/AAMI Insurance I was wary but given that I have been dealing with an AAMI car insurance claim over the past two days I am of the opinion that this is a genuine call from a call centre on behalf of AAMI, part of the Suncorp Group. The caller had my information but wanted to know if I had any further information about the claimant, because I am contesting the claim. Like many people though, I am of the opinion that banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions using call centres need to be much more strictly regulated. The caller should be required to identify themselves, the organization they are acting for, and why they are calling you, because scammers are getting smarter every day. And it should be a requirement that call centres should be in Australia, employing Australians. I am fed up with having to try and understand callers with broad sub-continent accents.

Thick foreign accent -- could not understand her. I THINK she said "is this is a convenient time" I said "no" and ended the call. The same number rang back about 30 seconds later, which I did not take (as it really wasn't a convenient time). Having read these comments, I do have a current claim with AAMI and subsequently received a text message, quoting another number to call back on and quoting my claim number. The 1300 number they want me to ring back on is NOT AAMI's normal number. I simply don't know if it's a scam or not -- I'll call AAMI on their publicly advertised number.

Caller: A female with an Imdian accent. Something about insurance. Could not get the company name as her accent is so hard to understand. Must be a scam as I have no insurance claims in and if it is from Suncorp or AAMI as some have said, I have no business with either company.

Caller: Suncorp Insurance Caller asked to verify my details before releasing any information. I asked to provide a claim, which they couldn't until I verified my information. I told her you called me and should have all the details and I had a case manager for my claim.

This call claiming to be from insurance, wanted all my details, sounded so dodgy I thought it was a scam. Hence me checking the number. Ended the call once I said I had spoken to someone already.

Caller: Natsaha claiming to be from AAMI Left a message on a Friday and gave me a AAMI number to call back on. Called AAMI and they had no idea who the person was. Nataha called back again the following Monday and asked for credentials before they could tell me what it was about other than it was to do with a claim I had filed. I'm not even with AAMI. I refused to give her any information since she wouldn't identify herself properly and I eventually hung up.
