Caller: Someone pretending to be SPER This is 100% a scam call, it is not really SPER, all the comments saying otherwise are likely to be scammers as well. They call me fairly frequently saying I owe money and they'll suspend my license. I don't know how this is possible as I've never stepped foot in Queensland, let alone driven a vehicle there or incurred any fines. How can they suspend a license for a state I don't have a license for? For fines in a state I've never been to? Scammers.

Caller: (07) 3013 4500 It's a scam. They will likely have your penalty ID # which makes it seem a bit more real. They will text you with a 1300 number to call which is different from SPER's real number.

Caller: "SPER" They said it was SPER about unpaid fines and suspending my license in Queensland. I've not been to Queensland in about 15 years and I don't have a Queensland license, so nothing they can suspend legally anyway, frauds.

Caller: Sper A lovely lady from SPER, state penalties enforcement registry called, I missed it and called back. She helped me to sort out a parking fine and organised a payment plan through Centrelink, so my licence wouldn't be suspended. She was lovely to deal with, and went out of her way to help me.

Caller: SPER I received a call from SPER, who told me that my QLD license was suspended. I was suspicious about this, so ended the call when info couldn't be provided without confirming my identity. They sent an SMS with a 'party number' which I was able to look up on a Queensland government website and confirm that fines had been issued and licence suspended. I called SPER on the number I found on the QLD government page (different number to what I was given in the SMS) and disputed the fines. My advice to someone who receives this call is to be wary and look into it, ask them for the PARTY number and look up the information online yourself, and take it from there.
