Caller: Amnesty international

They asked me to become a member and donate monthly. I asked for an email with information about becoming a member, they said they can't do that. I refuse to give my credit card over the phone to some random caller

They've called me 3 times in the past two days but I was busy and didn't answer, they left no follow up voicemails or text. I'm glad I checked here before calling back!

Caller: Fake Con Artists

# has been regularly calling me, no message left at any stage. Very interesting to see on here when googling # that the caller has been claiming they were from Amn.Int. and many have been asked to provide banking/card details over the phone.
I actually work for Amnesty International in a relatively high up position and I can assure you all that:

1) - We do not cold call for donations. Not ever.
2) - It's 2024, no charity organisation, or even the majority of businesses these days, ask for personal details ESPECIALLY bank details over the phone. Even more so the case when they have called you.
3) - Please don't be discouraged to donate to charity because of this, just make sure to do it the smart way - on YOUR terms. Contact the charity thru websites or in person, don't trust calls and emails anymore, it's too risky.

5 calls in 5 days, not a good look for a charity to be wasting their donations by spamming people

Has rung constantly. Ive always missed the call but no message is left. I doubt its Amnesty - they only process via online or by voluntarily on 1300 300 920. Id say its a fake organisation trying to scam Amnesty quite frankly.

I signed petition online for Amnesty and after which received call from this number. Was convincing so gave DOB and address and then though better to have all in email or mail and think before signing. Caller insisted that there is no other option to give donation other than on phone which created doubt. Said sorry to give card details. He hanged. searched this page in parallel. it helped. Lost some info though. Still better. of. Thanks.

Caller: Flloyd from Amnesty

This is an outbound charity number for Amnesty. I think it's disgusting that "reverseaustralia" has this listed at a scam. Donated $50 via the website without giving my details out over the phone and spoke to a legend called Ffloyd.

Amnesty is an amazing international charity organisation. It must be a scam.

I receive multiple calls a day from this number, even though I am on the Do Not Call register.

I couldn't work out why my phone wouldn't ring but then get a message notifying me of the missed call from this number. I blocked it MONTHS ago and in the last week have had 6 notifications of them attempting to contact me. I called the number back last week (before realising I had already blocked the number) and immediately got a automated message saying "thanks for returning your missed call, you have reached Search Direct saying they had tried to reach me on behalf of one of ourcharity partners. No need to call back, they will try again."

Caller: Apparently amnesty

Thought it was the debt collector so I never picked up. Thank god it's just amnesty😂

They somehow know my name, I haven't signed up for sh*t apart from Google, Outlook and xbox, don't know where this is coming from or who it is.

This number calls every day. Blocked number. Never leaves message. Avoid.

2 calls in 2days they rang off both times. Judging by all the comments I think Amnesty are the guilty party following-up on a recent online petition I signed. Number now blocked.

Caller: 0488 829 910 - Surge Direct Marketing

This number has been phoning me daily, sometimes twice daily, on my business phone number. No messages left. When I answered the call, whoever was on the other end hung up the phone. When I phoned back I got an answering machine that says they are "Surge Direct" and "calling on behalf of one of our charity partners". I called back, texted and called head office - no answer. Asking for donations over phone.

I was called by this number on Monday, the lady knew my name and said she was calling in regards to Australian Native Seeds (?) or something to the like- I told her I wasn’t sure what she was talking about but happy to listen to what she had to say- she told me I would have signed up on social media. Asked for my address to send me my native seeds (which I gave to her, silly me :() but did not request any payment for the postage or anything, told me it was a great time of year for planting them etc, then after proceeded to talk about Australian wildlife populations diminishing and asked if I could donate monthly to their cause. When I declined she offered me a lower monthly amount but I told her I was unable to at this time. I haven’t received any seeds in the mail, glad I have checked the number on here as it appears they are very cunning scammers. Be careful!
