They are real people on the other end, most likely they usually hang up on people after they say hi to confirm if the person is someone who answers or not, before passing it on to other scammers or working on a way to try scam the individual

I have 10+ phones that I use for one of my jobs, basically running a bot farm. I always get spam calls on these phones, this one particular number called me back many times after I asked why they poo in the street.
