I do not nor have I ever had a Vodaphone account, not my name and I owe them nothing ... They left a text message quote:
"For Zhengyu Gan only. Dear Zhengyu, we are an authorised collection agent for Vodafone and have been advised that despite previous requests for payment, you still have an outstanding account balance in the amount of $243.90. Your account balance has been outstanding for some time and must be paid immediately. Should this account not be paid, our Client reserves its right to inform relevant CREDIT REPORTING BODIES of this default. By paying your outstanding balance, you will avoid the possibility of LEGAL ACTION being taken against you to recover this debt. All enquiries are to be made directly to Commercial Credit Control Pty Ltd. Further collection action can be avoided by paying the account via this link: http://goo.gl/2dIl33 using Credit Card Payment ID 24823338 or by contacting us NOW on 1300 29 8141 quoting file #2482333. Do not reply by SMS."
This is CCC, I found out they are getting your details from TICA to harass you. You should give TICA a call on (02) 9743 1800 or Acceleon on (03) 9670 9797 to get your data removed.
Blame CreditSoft for sharing data between TICA, Acceleon, and the pesky debt collector 1300 720 164
Scam. These d*ckheads used to be known as panthera finance. These guys are buying your phone number off Acceleon (03) 9670 9797 give them a ring and tell them they don't have rights to your number 100% scam. Optus obviously passes on personal information once you leave there company. Do not be tricked into thinking you owe them money, that’s what they count on! I owe them no money, I opened an account with Optus in my name for a friend who at the time did not have a credit rating as she just moved to the country, and then had it transferred into her name 6 months later. One night I received a scam call claiming I owe Optus money, then my friend received a call minutes later from same caller, so they definitely obtained my personal information from Optus. This was over 6 months ago and I still have a perfect credit rating. Please don’t be fooled! I can’t believe the amount of scam calls I’ve had since leaving that company! SCAM. I have pre--paid, I don't own Vodaphone anything. The people saying otherwise are probably in on it themselves Received an SMS from this number stating we owe money from our old Internet account. We have closed the account properly almost 2yrs ago without any outstanding balance in that account. Suddenly they accused us owing money. Maybe they need a better communication system between the provider company and the debt collector agent, rather than giving the customer inconvenience. We always paid our bill on time, never failed. The SMS sounded like a scam as well. Caller: Commercial credit control
Scam - I'm not a vodafone customers and the name on their text message is different. they're fishing to see if they get lucky and can get some payment out of the victims!
Caller: Commercial Credit Control pty ltd
I first received a call from a blocked number, with a guy who first claimed to be from optus, and a minute later said he was from a collection agency. The call felt dodgy, and I was pretty certain I didn’t owe optus any money as I transfered over to prepaid six months ago. I told the guy in the phone that I would go into an optus store and sort the matter out in person. I had a strong feeling it was a scam, so I did nothing, and ignored any calls coming in from a private number.
A few days ago I received a text message from this number, again claiming I owed Optus money, and giving me a link to click to do a transfer. Mega dodgy.
So I called optus customer support, and the lady who helped me out laughed. She checked my account and confirmed there was nothing owing. I’ve given her all the information from the text message and she is sending it off to a team to be investigated.
Caller: No one
That just means they are looking for the person who owned the mobile numebr before you did. Hence why they asked for a different name. happens all the time. I used to work for Optus credit team.
I got 3 texts at the same time from this number for a person that I don’t even know. One said I owe $807.88 and the other said I owe $2342.20.
Not bad considering I have a pre paid sim for that number and it is only used to give my daughter access to the WiFi.
If a debt collector calls you, chances are that they have bought the debt off the company that you allegedly had the debt with in the first place, for cents in the dollar and are now attempting to extort it from you. Once they have purchased the debt from the previous company it is their responsibility NOT yours. It then falls into equity law. They're now trustee of the trust of the debt (which is created when contracts are entered into) and you don't owe them anything (you are no longer the trustee of the debt once they purchase it). Look into this further and be educated about what these vultures do and how they operate. This is the basis of their industry - to buy debts for cents in the dollar and get the full amount plus interest out of you - if they can! Definitely not spam you idiots you all have debts! Not a scam guys it's a collection agency clearly there's either a mistake with your name or you owe them money Got the same txt today from same mobile number quoting same 1-300 number. Must be a scam of some sort. Not using the 2 mobile operators mentioned above either. I just got this message today. I call it a scam!!
It was addressed to a name i have never heard of.
I owe no money anywhere, no do i deal with Vodafone or Optus (never have, never will).
This message originated from 0400 973 623 & asked to call CCC on 1300 731 166 & quote a number to prevent escalation.
It isn't necessarily a scam. I know I owed money to Vodafone - when I cancelled my service I knew I had money owing so went back to website to pay but as service was cancelled they wouldn't let me back into my account to finalise and no invoice was sent to me - kinda ridiculous right? Anyway, Vodafone uses these guys to collect money owed to them. Not a scam in my case. Cheers. I just had a call from commercial credit control and they are legit. I even went to the bank just to be on the safe side. Bank suggested that before making any payment make sure they send you a receipt via email scammers wont want to send you anything. They're still alive and kicking.
Just got the same SMS as most of you.
It's from the same number, asking to call 1300 885 119 and quote some number to them.
Message is addressed to a former colleague but on my mobile number. There is very little in the world that would link his name with my number (Just and MSDN subscription as far as I can see).
I wonder if we could trace it back to the source that sells names and numbers like this, and return the favour? :o)
