Reached out to me through Whatsap with a new number 0412 652 908 from Bathurst and wanted to use 'Auspost movers'.

Wanted to do the same today as per all previous posts. Reported to scamwatch.
My suggestion. BOMBARD 'Her' with messages and pictures
BTW the delivery address 64 Settlement rd Bathurst does not exist

as other posts, it came from "Bathurst" via whatsapp from ad I posted on gumtree. have blocked and reported

Scammer scum. I had a good ol time leading them on, until they cracked the darks and blocked me. XD

Calls herself now Molly, but still from Bathurst (pretty lazy, that😊). Uses 0405 839 942. We got suspicious by the quick readiness to buy and use Aus Post removalists to buy a second-hand bedroom suite 1000km away....

Same here! Put an ad for a thermomix and she wanted to buy it without any questions, thought it was suspicious. Glad I looked her number up! Scammers ugh

Asked if my item was still available on Gumtree. I replied and asked where they are located and no answer. Also not use to messages for adds via whatsapp so googled it and lucky I did so have blocked the number.

Same as many others, this "Linda from Bathurst" contacted me on WhatsApp about a Gumtree ad, immediately wanting to buy. Said she was from Bathurst, explained about the Australia Post delivery service through Gumtree I'd never heard of, how she'd pay to Gumtree and I'd have to go in and enter my bank details so Gumtree could pay me and then the movers will contact me to arrange collection. She sent me the Aust Post website which looked legit (now I regret clicking on that link). She then sent me pretend payment confirmation. At this point i want to Gumtree and checked but the ad was still up as not sold. I also googled the Australia Post service she referred to and that didn't come up - but this thread did! - confirming my suspicions someone was trying to get my bank info. Have reported and blocked the number

Same basic scam as above replied via whatsapp and wanted to use Aust post couriers and actually got to the stage where the money had been ‘paid’ into gumtree and I was asked to fill in my bank details ..
Just seemed so scam like and phone that I googled her name and this came up.....lucky ! So beware of this d*ckhead !!
If it seems too good to be true.......it is!!

Contacted by ‘Linda’ enquiring about an item on Gumtree. Even told ‘her’ that I was aware of scam using Gumtree but persistent. Helpfully provided a link to this webpage, thanked her and let her know I hope she had better luck next time. Reported to WhatsApp and blocked.

Just received messages about purchasing an item I have advertised on Gumtree, contacted me through Whatsapp. Seemed legit for the first couple of messages, then quickly and obviously became clear it was a scam in terms of using Auspost overs who work with Gumtree and she would pay them then they would pay me, links to websites. Shame on this person. As soon as I said it was clearly a scam the image of 'Linda' disappeared and they went offline.

Contacted via WattsApp with same fake BS saying she lived in Bathurst and wanted to organise Aust Post Couriers to come and pick up. "She" asked me questions that could have been answered had they actually read my Gumtree advert. She seemed to imply I had no idea about gumtree buyer seller options and that she would explain the process, I said no thanks but she still proceeded to run it down anyway. I asked her to communicate via gumtree messages and then she stopped all communication.

So dodgy! Exactly same deal with me. I put an ad on Gumtree, she contacted me through WhatsApp and offered to buy via Auspost for delivery to Bathurst. The site she sends explaining how it works looks so legit, but the actually AusPost website has nothing about this Stay Safe Trade Safe scheme so I was getting suspicious. So glad I looked this up. Scammers are the worst. Will block and report

Same as above linda haynes. Seemed fishy they would whats app me for a gumtree purchase in the first place, blocked them after reading comments here and didnt bother engaging. Shame but thats what you get i suppose for leaving your number visible in the add! Lesson learnt.
