If you are a Telstra landline customer & want to block nuisance calls like this one, you now have the option of buying a phone from the Telstra Shop that can do this. The phone itself costs $48 and is well worth the investment. Numbers you BLOCK will hear the following message; CALLS TO THIS NUMBER ARE BEING MONITORED BY TELSTRA GUARDIAN; THE PERSON YOU ARE TRYING TO CONTACT IS NOT ACCEPTING YOUR CALLS, SO PLEASE HANG UP.
People you place in your contacts list will get through as usual but anyone with a private / withheld number or a number that is not in your contacts list will hear this message; CALLS TO THIS NUMBER ARE BEING MONITORED BY TELSTRA GUARDIAN; PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND THEN PRESS # AND WE WILL CONNECT YOUR CALL. You will then have the option of either accepting or rejecting the call.

If you ring me again for your pointless surveys you'll be getting a whistle blown in your ear. Piss off and leave me alone. I shouldn't have to go to every scam survey scam company website to have my number removed. I don't have the time to waste doing that. My MP will be being contacted regards having the do Not Call Register strengthened to include survey parasites like Wallis Consulting.

We are legitimate market and social researchers which means we aren't covered by the Do Not Call Register. We can call you until 8.30pm each week night and between 9-5pm at weekends. Most of our work is for government and the results of the anonymous surveys feed into government policy and communications.
We are doing an important job which improves many people's lives. If you do not wish to participate and have your opinions heard, that's your choice and we will respect it - call us back or send an e-mail to us to tell us you don't want to take part. Have a look at our website (www.wallisgroup.com.au) to find out more about the work we do. It will tell you about the survey we have invited you to do as well! Our work is always anonymous and we will not sell you anything directly or indirectly..

(03) 9940 2000 is someone called Oliver from Wallis Market and Social Research, on behalf of The University of Melbourne. On my private unlisted mobile. He got a bit more than he wanted and ended up hanging up on me. He made the phone call and I abused him, where do they get the number from? Oh I did record it, automatic call recorder on my phone; everything incoming or outgoing gets recorded.

This number belongs to Wallis market and social research based in Melbourne. The company, of which I am Principal, is Australian owned and run. It has been operating for over 20 years totally within the law. Market and social research companies are exempt under the Do Not Call Register Act and may call you between the hours posted on ACMA's website. The reason for this is that genuine market and social research is the only way that organisations can gain a fair and balanced understanding of the attitudes of the public and/or their customers. As you can see from this website, left to self select, feedback is rather one-sided. We would not be in business if people did not want to talk with us - the vast majority is happy to. Wallis interviews around 100,000 people every year. We have our own Do Not Call Register and we will put your number on it if you wish. Please contact us and tell us your number so that we can do this. This does not mean that other market research companies won't call you. It does mean that if we're doing research for an organisation you do business with, such as your bank, or a government department and they provide your telephone number so that we can ask your opinion of the services they give you, you will not be contacted either.

We always welcome feedback and I am disappointed with the negative sentiments shown here. If you call us when our office is attended we will speak to you and take you seriously. you can also contact us via our website. I should warn some of you that all our staff are instructed not to respond and/or hang up if foul language is used.

To find out more about the Do Not Call Register please see the ACMA website on: http://www.acma.gov.au/theACMA/acma-i/Complaints/Telemarketing-complaints/telemarketing-rules-i-acma

I just got a call from them that I missed and then I called them back, they weren't so bad, they asked me if I wanted to take part in a survey and and I said 'no thanks' and that was the end of it. It was no big deal really.

I see some people asking why constant calls from numbers like this, with no message ever left, cause such irritation. Here are a few clues. Because this is my home, not a business. Because some people are elderly and find it hard to get to the phone to answer it. Because some people have very young children, or very ill children, who need to sleep. Because some people are very unwell and need to sleep. Because some people may have been up for the past 24 hours with an elderly parent, a child or a pet who was receiving emergency medical/veterinary treatment. Because the recipient may be occupied doing something else or speaking to someone they actually know about something that matters. Because some people suffer conditions such as anxiety and social phobia and do not want to speak on the phone unless they have to, and certainly not to someone they don't even know. Because these calls are in addition to the countless calls from scammers which are driving people insane. Because many people have signed up to the Do Not Call Register because they do not want to be called by anyone other than people they know, and it was not them who exempted companies that conduct surveys.
Get the idea? We do not want the intrusions into our lives, and we despise those who show a total lack of concern for whether the call wakes or seriously disturbs the recipients in their own homes.

I keep getting these calls. I followed advice from others here and called on 8620 5688 and it is them. I spoke to "Simon" and he said he'd remove me. *shrug* we'll see when I finally stop getting these calls. I have a baby and a toddler both taking naps!

They rang both my mobile and house phone. Not sure where they got my numbers from.
No message left but I never picked it up just in case. The phone providers should put something in place to stop these acts some how. I would like to know which Telstra phone blocks these people that was mentioned by another email-er on this site.

This number belongs to Wallis Social Research based in Melbourne. They called me but I was busy so they arranged a suitable time to call me back. They work for organisations such as the TAC, WorkSafe and Public Transport Victoria to gather opinions to improve services. Take a look at their website and you will see that they work for reputable organisations and follow all privacy guidelines. Their website also explains that if you are contacted and do not want to participant you can tell them so and they will put you on their internal do not call register. I found the experience interesting and the interviewer friendly and professional.

If I don't know the number, it means I don't know you nor do I want to. If you wish to continue to invade my privacy then I am more than happy to send you an invoice for my time.
