(03) 9937 7800 = OCIS (Oceania Customer Interaction Services) (Fiji call centre)OCIS use three call centres located in Fiji, New Zealand and their Head Quarters in Melbourne.  I was told by and OCIS operator the number (03) 9937 7800 is out of Fiji. http://www.ocis.com.au/ContactOCIS/GeneralEnquiries/tabid/66/Default.aspxDespite OCIS not making up front disclosures that they are not OCIS working for Optus, or that they call from outside Australia, OCIS has sued people (then dropped the law suit) who call OCIS a ?shadowy multinational?.http://www.indymedia.org.nz/article/77270/cal ... rong-againstandDetails behind the corporate face of the OCIS team include:CEO - Health Lee http://au.linkedin.com/pub/heath-lee/10/6b9/56a, Executive Director - Andrew Kaszubski http://au.linkedin.com/pub/andrew-kaszubski/15/2a/74, Others http://www.ocis.com.au/TheCompany/ExecutiveLe ... 72/Default.aspx) OCIS operators  http://www.unite.org.nz/?q=node/584What I am saying here is to take it easy on the operators. Better still, ask OCIS to give you an incentive for your research participation, cash for your comments. They are making money by you to talking to them and currently OCIS do not give you anything for your time. And ask Australian regulators to investigate company practices that annoy you within your system, by lodging a complaint.Know your rights https://www.donotcall.gov.au/mi.cfm and put yourself of the ?Do Not Call Register? https://www.donotcall.gov.au/ and read this too http://www.acma.gov.au/webwr/_assets/main/lib ... keting_call.pdfOCIS can be either a seller or a researcher when they call you. They don?t usually tell you upfront their purpose or the content of the call. You should ask the operator to explain the purpose of their call. Is OCIS wanting to ?sell? to you or to ?research??Researchers are not Telemarketers, so do not mix the two up. http://www.mrsa.com.au/index.cfm?a=detail&id=2706&eid=140) Below is a guide for Australian Market Research or Telemarketing calls:-1.    Research calls to a ?Do Not Call? registered number (are legal)2.    Research calls to a silent number (legal)3.    Research calls to combined silent & ?Do Not Call? number (legal)4.    Researchers must identify themselves with caller ID5.    Researchers must terminate the call if you ask them to6.    Telemarketers and Researchers must provide you with information on request7.    Telemarketers and Researchers must not be deceptive or misleading8.    Telemarketers must terminate the call if you ask them to9.    Telemarketers must identify themselves with caller ID10.    Telemarketing (or selling) calls to a publically listed numbers (legal)11.    Telemarketing calls to a ?Do Not Call? number (illegal)12.    Telemarketing calls where they pretend to be doing research (illegal)It is illegal for an OCIS operator to deceive you by claiming to be a researcher and then use deceptive practices to try and "bait-and-switch" you from an initial market research call into a selling call.http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/tpa1974149/s52.html)If OCIS phones you and they tell you they are "selling" and you are on the "Do Not Call Register" OCIS may have committed an offence under the Do Not Call Register Act 2006. Start with the ACMA website on how to lodge your complaint: http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_310679 Consumer complaints are very valuable to the ACMA, and they want you to complain to them if you think OCIS is selling you something when they should only be researching because you are on the ?Did Not Call Register?. Think carefully about any OCIS offer for them to ?Opt out? your number from their selling database so they can cover up their error, and avoid an ACMA complaint. Without a complaint to ACMA, ACMA doesn?t get the full picture of failures by companies like OCIS to observer the ?Do Not Call? legislation. Ask OCIS if they are recording the call, because OCIS claim they can record "100% of their calls".OCIS operators are supposed to be trained to an industry standard. http://www.mrsa.com.au/index.cfm?a=detail&id=2653&eid=138If you become aware of an alleged OCIS breach of either the Trade Practices Act (deceptive conduct) or the Do Not Call Register Act 2006, you may also like to alert MSRA (the Australian professional membership body of marketers) of that alleged breach.

I've had three calls this week from numbers that aren't in my phonebook, (03) 9838 2018, (03) 9937 7800 and just this morning (02) 8114 3800. Decided today after missing the third one that I would google to find out what's going on. From what I've read it seems like they're all dodgy companies claiming to be calling on behalf of Optus.I'm on Optus prepaid and it sounds to me like they've been giving away my personal details.

I just got the call a few minutes ago. The line was quiet for a little while and they hung up. I could hear background noise though.
I've had it a few other times over the last few weeks too, and I kept thinking it was a wrong number before I noted that it was all from the same person...

Vic

I received a few phone call from number (03) 9937 7800 and (02) 8114 3800 too. Seems the caller got my mobile number from Optus. Hope the caller does not use our personal info for the wrong purposes.
