Caller: Apparently it's AGL They called me said they were recording the conversation for quality and blah blah and then they asked me to confirm my date of birth for security verification. What the? If you're calling me on MY mobile from the number you have on your system then it is HIGHLY likely that it's going to be me picking up the phone, innit? Why ask for my personal details??

Caller: Scam AGL shouldn't immediately hang up, shouldn't ask you to verify details without a prior relationship for the product. If this is AGL they may be in breach of the law but I would bet this is a scam.

To clarify - companies ask for identification details when they call you so they can ensure they have contacted the right person, this avoids them providing your information to someone who shouldn't be getting it. If you're unsure who is calling you, just hang up and call the company back and do all dealings through those means, that way you can be sure its the right company.

Caller: AGL Number is definitely AGL. They offered me a deal to bundle my nbn and give me credit. I said I’d call them back. I called back AGL directly to let them know I wasn’t interested as nbn is under my roommates name and AGL is under mine. They were completely understanding

Caller: AGL Can confirm also this was AGL. They had a special offer for NBN and mobile. I was skeptical so and didn't accept the offer and called AGL myself to check and they confirmed it was legit. They didn't ask for my personal details, they actually read them out to me and they'd even call me back after I did my scam checks.

Caller: AGL I have AGL in my phone contacts and it's not the same number. If you are a customer then they shouldn't be asking you for your details. They should already have your details. Ring AGL directly and make a complaint.
