Call 21 May 2021. Someone claiming to be Daniel from Telstra, saying that someone had illegally accessed my Internet Licence. Gave his contact details were (03) 9028 2980. Agree about this is a SCAMMER ALERT!!

Called me 6/7/2020 he said his name was Daniel Wilson from Telstra.
Then said something about an Internet Licence Agreement and asked if I was on my computer right now and that he would talk me through how to change my code and that my internet was about to fail, I needed to type this code 888dca60. His contact details were (03) 9028 2980. SCAMMER ALERT!!

My mother has dementia and lost her handbag and her son, 23 December. On 26 December 2022, she received a call at her home, which I answered. He Gentefied himself as Daniel Wilson gave his telephone number, when requested, as (03) 9028 2980. He said he was from ANZ bank and enquired as to whether my mother had attempted to make a $500 purchase online for Amazon on 23 December. I said she had not on that her purse it been stolen. He wanted details to send replacement cards and numbers of the accounts. My mother has with ANZ. I would not provide them and he said that he would be able to cancel anyway and will do so. I called back a few hours later and was told, I think by the same voice, no one by the name of Daniel Wilson was at that address. I don’t think any authorised debits have been made from accounts in my mothers name with ANZ bank, but I am not certain whether they have been compromised. Obviously they have now been stopped and new cards issued. I agree that this person sounds plausible. He also sounds like a middle-aged male with an accent.

A guy claiming Daniel Wilson called from the mobile number 0410 704 940. Told me my Amazon Prime account was being duplicated and someone was ordering lots of items from my account. He got me to go to my Playstore and type 'Anydesk' and click on that app to install it.
I said I wasn't comfortable with this and believed it was a scam. He then gave me the following number to call back on: 04390282980

I have a missed call from (03) 9028 8970, and then I called back, asked who was calling? They said they are calling from Australian Taxation Office. I hung up the phone.

Called my wife, hung up the phone she returned the call to have the person on the other say instantly they were from the ATO and immediately ask for her TFN, she would not hand over this information so they swore at her and hung up

I got a call 10/8/2020 claiming to be Daniel from Telstra, saying that someone had illegally accessed my Internet Licence and that they needed to change the licence number or they would disconnect my internet within the hour. He gave me the number (03) 9028 2980 to call back. I haven't been disconnected so definitely a SCAM!!! It is one of the more convincing calls I've had though.

Just wanted to post to say I own this number (and have done for about 6 months). It's a Skype number that I use for my web design business (Stargazer Digital). I can't make phone calls out from this number, I can only receive calls.

I've recently received a few phone calls asking if we're Telstra. Erm.... no. I'm not!

It appears as though some NBN scammers - specifically someone apparently named Roman - has found my phone number and are handing it out when asked for a number to call back on. I don't know if they're able to spoof the number so it looks like calls are coming from here, but I certainly hope not.

Please folks - DO NOT give these people any personal details. Call Telstra/Optus/your phone provider directly and ask for information.

Please feel free to let those scammers know what you think of them (don't worry - I agree! 🤬). I've reported it to Telstra and Skype (neither of who seem to not be interested) and to a close mate of mine at Victoria Police.

sae thing as me, he said that if I didnt tell him if I online shopped m internet would be disconnected and that my ip was threatening. I followed along and while on the phone found this forum, long running scam of course!! I got his number (03) 9028 2980 calling from Melbourne and giving me. a fake business number!! reporting this to scamwath straight after!

Had this jerk call me 6 times today. I kept him on for 45 minutes earlier, trying to get him to give me his name and phone number, which he eventually did. John Edwards.From Telstra. Ended up using profanity at me twice and I yelled at him. He eventually hung up, totally stressed out. He keeps calling back. Husband answered the phone last time. John wanted to speak to his wife. When hubby kept asking him why he wanted to speak to his wife, he said because I want to **** her. "This is the first and last time I will ask you to let me talk to you wife." Hubby's reply "Bloody oath it will be mate." Blocked "unknown numbers" on my phone. Which is a pain because my best friend and both my sons have unlisted numbers. Will this jerk ever give up?

Tried telling me that my computer was sending an error message & warning about downloading corrupted files that would multiply in my computer. Assured me he could give me my computer's ID number, and if I would press the Windows key & R we could start to do fix it, though by this stage I'd had enough & hung up.

Guy claiming from Dell computers rang, very convincing, address and phone number given when I asked, 242 Exhibition Street, and 039282980.
Claimed my internet line would be discontinued in 2 hrs. because of hackers, then said would take up to 20 days to be reinstated. Extremely persistent and insistent.!!!

Said he was from Telstra - got a bit upset when my poor old computer wouldn't do what it was supposed to. Said he would send a technician around "today"for $2 - (which I thought was very good deal lol.) And he was after my credit card number so I could pay the $2.

Telstra Technical Department !! About the 5th call this week. This time there was no "delay" between my phone pickup and the caller actually speaking - so I paid a bit more attention. When I pestered him for details he gave his name as Peter William working at Telstra 242 Exhibition St Melbourne, Ph (03) 9028 2980. Said I would ring back, then checked Reverse lookup. I subsequently rang Telstra and reported a nuisance call. Telstra confirmed it was not one of their numbers and asked my permission to keep a record of all calls made to my number for the next 30 days to see if they could take any action. I wish that all these bogus phone numbers could just be cancelled. I am so sick of scammers and feel sorry for the many people who are caught by these type of scumbags.

Same Telstra scam. They are going to block my access to the internet unless I did what they told me to do. Asked for their phone number - (03) 9028 2980.

I used to work at 242 Exibition Street. I asked him what was the Hotel just down the road. He didn't know.
I used to commute from Sydney to Melbourne. Working on a project.

I has exactly the same call. A guy a named Peter with ID D674500. He said i can call (03) 9028 2980 to verify him.
Sounds doggy to me.

I had a call from a person claiming to be from Telstra telling me that my internet connection would be disconnected in two hours because my computer was sending errors to Telstra's server. I suspected a scam so I asked his name and phone number. To my surpeise he gave his name as John Acosta, his ID as D848520 and phione number as (03) 9028 2980. I then looked up the phone number and Bingo! a long running scam!!
