I don’t answer landline calls I cannot identify. Checked Reverse AU nothing.
So I called the number, it’s some fundraising org, I didn’t hang around to find out more.

We receive so many of these calls, that we no longer answer the phone unless we know the number.
With this said, I had to come up with a system that allows legitimate callers to leave a message in case their number isn't stored in my phone, but at the same time, without using my real voice, as the recording of my voice can be used to apply for loans or any other scam, so this is what I did.
Using the google translate app, I selected "English" as the spoken language and entered the following text...Hello, as we receive scam calls all day, we do not answer private or unknown numbers. If your calling from such a number or any number for a legitimate reason, please leave your name and a contact number and well return your call as soon as possible, as we may not be currently available. Thank you.

After entering this text, I clicked on "Speak" (Within the google translate app) and hit "Record Greeting" on my answering machine.

So now, I just let the machine answer all unknown calls and if they leave a message, I'll call back.
As far as I'm concerned, if the call is important, they WILL leave a message.

You will however get some stubborn people who persist calling with a private number, but refuse to leave a message. These people should be lobotomised, as they are of no use to decent society due to the fact that they are incapable of following basic instruction.

Picked up finally after them calling me everyday an Australian woman said shes from the heart foundation and asked if im over the age over 18? I replied yes and she said “oh okay” then hung up??

Calling most days around either 11am or 2pm. We are on the Do Not Call register it makes no difference.

Tried to coax out my credit card number.

Called off 90060157 - they have called me a couple of times but I ended up blocking their number yesterday... I just got another call from them this morning from that same number. I blocked it do don't know how that can happen!

i didnt answer the phone, but my phone setting automatically detect it as Potential Fraud and hence i left it rang out.
out of curiousity, i checked online. bam. 95 complaints. guess it is just another charity call or funeral insurance stuff.

I gather it was Apple Marketing from notices above but I have blocked them using Mr Number App, so hoping they give up soon. I also put the message noted by Solution above on my answer phone so hope the Politicians get the message when they start calling

Constantly getting calls from this Melbourne area code, never any message and never answer, just hoping they go away. so frustrating as I work as a counsellor and have to keep phone on silent. They usually call about 2-3pm.

My phone & anti-spyware always tell me when 'suspected spam' is calling so I never ever pick up. This time the caller was identified as 'suspected spam' from 'Apple Marketing Group' I recommend everyone purchase anti-spyware for your phones. It is really worth it, so many Australian phone numbers have been harvested from all sorts of legitimate businesses, and we are at the mercy of spammers and scammers purchasing our data to use for their financial gain.

Rang just after 2.30 on Monday afternoon.I picked up & didn't say anything because I expected it was a scam call since I did not know the number & it was an 03 number.They didn't say anything & just hung up.

Caller: Lady from Africa wanting HELP for her 15 Children

As above, she was very polite and explained very clearly that her children were starving and that her husband had gone off to kill elephants for their ivory and she had not seen him for months, it was so sad, she said there was flies on her kids eyes all the time and it was upsetting her dearly, she also was so apologetic for her call as it was 3am in the morning when she rang, that was ok though as i was glad to help her out and gave here my credit card details to make a payment to her. I am so happy that I have made her happy, its amazing what a couple of grand can do to these helpless people, c'mon everyone, lets band together to make a difference...I now get loads of calls from people like her that also need my help. I am a good person :-)

REALLY annoying - ring so often - Blocking them

They are not fake or fraudulent, they are legitimate fundraisers for various different charities, but can be rather annoying, as they just keep calling. If you're interested in donating to the charity you can go online directly to the charities site and they will receive all of the funds with no commission taken out.

Caller: Salvation Army lady

A lady called, said she was from the Salvation Army asking me to go door knocking to help with the cause. I told her several times I was busy with work but she was very persistent. She stated my full name, address, email address & I believed she was genuine. Now I’m worried reading these comments though I didn’t tell her anything else besides what she’s already known.

I called the number and the recording said they were "the charity fundraising specialist"! They are now blocked from my phone.
