Phone number was on a scam paypal request for a bitcoin purchase.

I got what seemed to be a genuine Paypal email ( service @ paypal.com.au) with a note as follows
Note from carol newton:
This request for your bitcoin purchase. if you have not made this transaction please call our fraud team to cancel this transaction at (03) 9005 8466

Request for a bit coin purchase of $889.00 Says call our fraud teem on (03) 9005 8466 to cancel this transaction.

This number appeared in a scam paypal request for a bitcoin purchase.
The name requesting for the bitcoin purchase, appeared as Ainsley Imelda O'Brien.
Do not call this number.
Select on the details link of the request in your PayPal account and click on the Report icon to cancel the request.
I've also called PayPay AU support team on 1800 073 263 to be sure and they confirmed that it's a scam; no transactions have been made in my PayPal account.
They found the request for $889 (which I've reported/cancel) and advised that they will ban/block this requestor PayPal account.

I received the same email from PayPal today, 21 April 2023 which included the same phone number. I called the number and it was a scam customer service centre with so many people talking in the background to obviously concerned PayPal customers. I was asked for all my personal details, including my email address, bank account etc. which I obviously didn’t give. When I pressed them for their credentials, they hung up.

I received an email from PayPal’s legitimate email address service @ paypal.com telling me that “Aaron Kelly” had requested AU$889.00 for a Bitcoin purchase. The email included a PAY NOW link and the number (03) 9005 8466 to call. I logged manually into my PayPal and the money request was there also. Forward these emails to phishing @ paypal.com
