Caller: Telstra Genuine call from Telstra, following up on a "slow NBN speed" enquiry I had initiated last week. I received an SMS from Telstra a few minutes before they called to advise it would be a legit call. When the call shows on my iPhone, it shows Telstra as the caller and a green tick emoji (which makes the call look fake, I don't know why they do that LOL). Anyways, I informed the customer agent that I resolved the issue via online chat within minutes, so not sure why they are calling back a week later - but when I have a genuine outstanding issue, it's almost impossible to get some to call back. Anyways, rant over - it is defo a legit Telstra call. I also received a notification via the Telstra app that they had now closed my case.

Caller: scam This is some ring of people calling themselves Telstra. They’re quite sophisticated in there organisation. However I’ve caught them out a number of times. They don’t know their sh*t at all. If you question them deeply they don’t know anything about you if you question them anything beyond your name and date of birth and address and what service they’re trying to take over. They call me five times on a public holiday. I’m pretty sure Telstra isn’t paying. It’s staff members to work on a public holiday and ring someone because they haven’t plugged in their broadband.

Caller: Telstra (call back request) This number called me back after I was in Telstra’s enquiry queue. Background: I left the Telstra queue at 10:10am (opting for a priority call back from international assistance) then received this call back at 10:13am (2 minutes after). The call was announced “This is the call back you requested”. I spoke to the person and provide my reference number - from the enquiry I had made to them earlier in the day and then, I proceeded with getting the assistance I needed.
Of course this number could be ‘spoofed’ by any one (scammer included) but use your discernment and logic. You were blessed with a brain so squeeze out some of that ‘applied knowledge’ to determine if your experience is logical - like mine, or not.
The more people that assume it a scam the quicker I am likely to received a ‘validated’ and legitimate call back and the quicker I can get on with my day. However, I would refer instead that most individual use their own discernment to stomp out the pernicious industry that is ‘phone and internet scamming’. It is a growing industry - make no mistake. The choice is your. Being smarter than the scammers is not achieved by hiding under rocks. That is a trauma ‘flight’ response and I get that (I have elderly parents).
The more people that kick over the rocks the more light that shines to illuminate the issue for all.
Have a nice day.

Caller: Telstra Wake up Australia! This is a f*cking SCAM! Block the number. If you do not recognise the number let it go to voice mail. 10/10 they never leave a message. Sometimes I call back from a land line and guess what, the number is not connected. And if the number is connected I engage them first to work out if ithey are a scammer or not. If they are a scammer, I have a very loud sports whistle!
