Caller: Supposedly someone from the Do Not Call Register !!
Rang me at 5:30pm on a Friday evening and the caller, who had an indian accent) claimed to be from the Do Not Call Register.
The worrying thing is, he had my name, telephone number and address ... probably scammed from the White Pages as the details he gave me were the listing details.
When confronted he asked if I thought he was a scammer and when I aswered "yes", he went on the defensive and stated he cant help me thn.
I just hung up on him in the end.
Indian accent. Said his name was Russell calling from the Do Not Call register. Yeah right!
I said “well it’s obviously not working, go away.” Hung up.
Caller: female caller - simultaneously called my landline and mobile.
I had that experience too. When I asked fif I could just go to the website and update my details there, he insisted that it could only be done over the phone.
He did say my card expired in 2018 and I said why had it taken so long, he told me I had misheard. I also objected to be threatened with immediate removal from the register, I told he was bullying me and I would not take that. I told him to ring back in business hours it was after 7pm when I got the call
Caller: False Do Not Call register
Foreign accent man wanted to confirm our Visa expiry date to confirm our ID, after husband handed phone to me to write down activation code number & sus it out. (Yeah. Sure!!) I said, No Thanks, & hung up.
Thanks for the info. They do not leave a message so now blocked! I have been getting cals from this number for the last few days. One time a woman asked if i was (my name was correct) and so I said yes and she hung up.
Other times it hangs up when I answer...about 5 calls the last few days.
I left the phone on the bench after telling him that I knew he was not from a government blocking service.Went back to the phone and he was still doing his speel, though I stayed quiet. He eventually gave up after asking a few times if I was still there, and hung up.
Asked me whether I got unwanted telemarketing calls. Said yes, I have one right now.
Claiming to be from Do Not Call Service. Indian accent. Told caller she was a scammer, they thought about for a moment then hung up.
Has called twice today. Ignored both times until I had chance to check with RA.Yeah! Now blocked. Caller: Says she was responding to a Do Not Call Register request.
Rang me at 5:30pm on Saturday evening and she had an Indian accent) said she was responding to a request from the Do Not Call Register.
She said she was given my details a few days ago and contacted me to discuss blocking scam calls. She had my name, telephone number and address which is a worry.
I asked her to repeat the company name (which due to the accent I didn't understand) and I asked where she was located. She said in Kent Street, Sydney and her name was Nancy Packer (yeh right!!!) . I asked for a phone number so I can ring back and she give me an 1800 number which I did call and it was a US number which related to a heckler blocker. I told her it was hard to hear her as she kept cutting in and out on the phone. I hung up. These people are such nuisances and a pain in the *##.@.
Answered and no one was there and hung up A nuisance call Caller: Scammer
Called my mother and said they were from the "Do Not Call Register" and if she wanted her number registered she would have to pay and asked for her credit card number.
Like other reports, Indian-sounding male saying better DNC system starting tomorrow. Wanted me to confirm details like whether I pay by direct debit.
Other voices in background - so probably a call centre.
Probably a scam and I hung up.
They called a number that we do not use ?
It's a scam / sales pitch / phishing expedition.
Caller: An Indian male
Said he was from the Do Not Call register company on behalf of all phone companies. Had details available in White Pages, wanted to know of I paid my account by Visa. When I questioned his integrity he told me I would be in trouble because the call was recorded.
Caller: Same as above cases.
Birth date and credit card used for my telephone account triggered suspicion. Hang up Indian voice.
Caller: Male Indian claiming to be from the do not call register
Started asking details. Told him I didn’t know who he was and I wasn’t going to answer any of his questions.
Seeing the number listed here, I didn't answer the call. How are numbers obtained? I suppose from white pages online. Since three months we have a private number but our number is still in the data systems of scammers as well as old paper phone books. Though, I don't think scammers consult paper phone books to find numbers.
