Caller: Claim to be AGL Received repeated calls from this number. Introduce themselves as AGL. They start off advising that the call will be recorded then ask to confirm the email address on the account. I advise that I have multiple accounts and need to know which one so I can tell them the email then the line goes dead. Similar pattern over the last few weeks.

Caller: CLAIMED to be AGL 1000% scam. They want you to give them your money. They offer 20% discount to pay over the phone and don’t want you to pay any other way. Scam people! After WAY too many calls I’ve told them that I’m not the person they’re after (wrong number) and the calls have stopped.

Caller: AGL Turns out is is in fact AGL and completely legit. After I refused their offer to pay by CC for a 20% discount, I called AGL to complain about the call and warn them that there are scammers at work, but they assured me that it was in fact their Accounts Receivables Team making the calls. I was flabbergasted, as my account wasn't in arrears (according to me) - I haven't paid my last bill because I left my last place and got the final bill with a new (future) date for the full amount. But because my disconnection request was sent out around the time the proper bill was issued, they expected the 2 bills to be paid within a week from one another. Fair enough, I suppose, but I just assumed the final bill will override the previous one. I was wrong. Regardless - the call was completely unacceptable. Such bad Customer Service!

You can't be sure that it is their number by calling back (same with anyone else); the best way to be sure you called AGL is to call their publicly listed number.

Caller: AGL AGL- Rubbish company. Made an error on my account , refund was received 6+ months after it was promised - then they double refund !! . ( I had given up chasing the lying fools ) . Repeatedly call multiple times a week trying to recover their $120 error . Labour must be very cheap in those OS call centres to waste hours on this. They can keep calling for the next 6+ months.

Caller: CLAIMED to be AGL Got a final bill from AGL with an updated due date combining the previous period charge when we're moving to another supplier. 2 weeks BEFORE the new due date, this caller started to harass us with multiple calls a day. First, started to ask for DOB and full name, which is bazzare already, then kept saying we're in arrears with zero intention in honouring the due date in the actual bill, and finally offered us to pay via the phone for a 20% discount.
AGL or not (outsourced debt collector?), this is so wrong: 1. Honour the freaking due date you set on your own bill before starting to harass peopel! 2. There is no freaking way for people to tell if this is a scam or not, because it follows every single step that a scammer usually does.

repeated calls, this stream of messages is very helpful as I don't have an AGL account having left prev address and have final bills not due for more than a week, so no reason for a call. Didn't leave a message.

Caller: Said AGL They said I have not paid my bill. Asked for my DOB, name and then only they can tell me what is the amount outstanding. I had change my biller to Energy Australia. I told the caller to send me email with outstanding account as they have my email. Refused to provide details and to send email. Then hung up. After I changed to Energy Australia there was another number of AGL kept on calling me. That was (03) 8313 9350.to talk about my account and discounts. I told them you are late as I have already changed the billing to Energy Australia. The call to me from the number in question here came to my landline number. They knew who I was because I told them my name. Still wanted DOB, Surname to provide outstanding amount. Does not sound good. Untrained people with bad attitudes. Their New Chief Customer Officer is Ms Christine Corbett. She left her 27 years' Australia Post job of the same position after gross misconduct was identified. I wrote to AGL about this but they did not respond.

Caller: AGL pestering for unpaid accounts They have been a nightmare. Completely arrogant bunch of c... They opened an account in my name (unsolicited) - told them many times refer to original paperwork where the correct entity is named. Put them on notice to stop harrassing me and have in writing that have told them many times - issue invoice in correct name and it will be paid. Going on now for 12 months. Beyond a joke. The MOST arrogant company I have dealt with as far as I can recall. I'm sure I'd remember if anyone was worse.

Blank line when I answer the phone. I had recent dealings with AGL and I suspect an inside job within the AGL company gave out AGL customers account details to scammers (possibly sold for profit). This is what happens when call centres are outsourced to overseas countries!!!!
