We google every number we don't know these days. How can these people be allowed to annoy us on a daily basis.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, here are two ploys to try 1. Pick up the phone and say "arpka nahm kya hi" which means "what is your name?" in Hindi. Usually the caller will disconnect. If the caller happens to answer in Hindi, then say "habla usted espaniol" which means "do you speak Spanish?". Almost certainly they will disconnect. 2. If a question is asked, such as "how are you" or indeed any question, say "the charge for an answer to the question is $100, and rises by $50 for each succeeding question. Please state your credit card details so payment can be transacted before the first answer".

Caller: Louise Marie Briefly describe the scam This female fraud artist that keeps setting up new different phone numbers and buying different SIM cards and talking over the phone in a fake Indian accent, pretending to be from a disability charity and asking for our credit card details to donate $20 to her. When we asked her about the charity address or the website she hangs up and then creates another phone number and calls and calls and calls pretending to be the same charity again..
This has been going on for months now and the police do nothing about it, makes us think maybe it’s actually police officers that do these things and get away with it.

Yep it's a recorded message from some charity. First one was last year... I had a full on argument with "her" until I realised it was a robot haha. It's clever, and changes it's reponse bases on what you say to it. Super annoying but I always have a giggle

Caller: Charity I am sick and tired of receiving calls from this number (have now blocked it). Lizzy Dent representing Next Steps Australia, a domestic violence charity. I tried to politely explain that I have requested my number be taken off the call list and she just keeps on talking. I told her I'm getting very cranky now. How do we actually get these guys to stop!!

Caller: origin energy aparently Woman calling from origin energy apparently. Was asked to check if my address was correct as the electricity service was going to be cut off at the listed address for our shop. We recently moved locations 8 months ago so the address she had wasn't correct. I said it wasn't correct . She said thank you and didn't ask for our new address. I work in a centre of shops, so we have no control of the power supply ...very wierd

Most annoying on is the so called holiday voucher agency that wanted to sell us an interstate holiday in the middle of border closures. Continually asking for a credit card down payment. Would call twice a day for a week, even though I blocked each number, they found another number to call on.

Very pleasant-sounding woman. I demanded she tell me why she was phoning me (from Clayton) and she just said it would be a very quick phone call which would not take much time, to which I replied that's right, because I'm hanging up. This is the second time this same person has called - this time on a different number. Wish they would get a proper job!

Caller: (03) 9917 7977 Sub-Continent male caller, no name given, wanting to speak to person with the Internet Connection. Says was from Technical Support. "No you can't, take this number off your list and do not call back etc. etc...." He was not happy. Hung up, then added their number to the Call Block on phone......... We should not have to put up with this garbage, it brings out the worst in us! I feel sorry for the elderly who grapple with technology and get confused and/or sucked in by these spivvy low-life's.
