Claimed to be "Next Steps Australia", a domestic violence charity. Sounds pre-recorded but engaged enough with my conversation that it must be a human. A bit pushy with the sales pitch and demand for a "pledge" even if you offer to donate online, and was quite abrupt with the hang-up at the end when I refused to provide pledge details over the phone.

Didn’t answer, but they call all the time. My policy is not to answer any numbers I don’t know. They don’t leave a message which tells me all I need to know. It’s hard to block this particular one - they just call using a different number.

Similar to earlier post, just needing one more generous person to give $100 to make the $300 gift hamper for the day complete. Then raised her request to $150. Said that was too much, so she dropped to $50, then $35, then $25, then jumped up to $300! I pointed out if i stayed on the line much longer, she would ask for $1000! She disconnected then. Waaaay too cheery to almost laughing when talking about a serious subject such as DV. I had asked where my number was obtained from. Told they buy lists from different brokers. I suggested using the money used to purchase my number would be better than asking for mine.

Claim they need $300 and have 2 others already contributing $100 so just need your $100.

Definitely using a pre-recorded function. Can't tell if bots or someone physically pressing the respective message responses, but seems very very dodgy. Also waaay to cheery message for such a serious topic.

Definitely a scam. If you go to Next Steps Australia's legitimate website, a scam alert message comes up and states that they never solicit donations by cold calling. These fraudsters should be ashamed of themselves for using the identity of a Domestic Violence charity to fleece well meaning people.

These scamming pests never give up. I never answer the phone these days without knowing who's calling, and this number has called so often that I blocked it, but still they never give up. There surely must be something the telcos can do about this incessant intrusion into our homes.

Rings a couple of times a week on different phone numbers. It is always the same female but always a different name. Told her 10 times not to ring my number but continues to try to scan me. Each time I block the number but more calls keep coming on new phone numbers. Come on Telstra do something. New legislation state you need act. Well?

They keep ringing me and won't listen to a know. They state I donated however, I don't recall. Today when I told the caller I wasn't interested - he said " I'm not after your money" and hung up on me!

Caller: the fundraiusing centre

Lucy Edwards, Lizzy Dent and Lizzie Pearl, are some of the pseudonyms that this voice artist for the The Fundraising Centre uses.
I think it's an actual business that provides low effort, low cost outbound sales calls to charities, for donations. So the interesting thing about this, is that the voice actor is very talented and they've incorporated her into a soundboard that consultants are using to then get an actual payment... or... could be a clever system used by scammers in an elaborate network. With that said, the charitable organizations are actually registered and have real people working for them. Regardless it's really interesting, especially for the fact that it works.

This woman rings constantly and changes her name depending what day it is. As others have said she should be ashamed of herself.

Wanted a donation. Too insistent. Want stop talking or take no for an answer. Don’t need to be made to feel bad about my decision not to give money to something I know nothing about. Stop calling.
