Caller: Fundraising charity
Returned call, recorded message staying was a well known fundraising charity.
Couldn't take my call right now.
I found it a bit suspicious
Have blocked caller
Caller: One of Australia's leading charities
Didn't answer as in country area and is unrecognised Melb number. Was not on the rev/Aust data base so rang back and got recorded message "thanks for calling back we are one of Aust leading charities" & I hung up.
Caller: Supposedly a charity!
Said they were from 'Next Step' charity whatever that is. I asked them their phone number but was met with total silence.
This nonsense is making the phone service useless and nothing is being done about it. Not that our government ever does anything unless it's for their wealthy mates.
Called me on 7/01/21 at 4:30pm Stupid me i answered the call, Female with a Australian accent said she was from a company called the next step,i said im not interested, She started laughting then tells me F off,,,So its a scammer
Call me at 6:30pm, WST time on the dot. After reading the below comments I blocked them.
I get many calls every week ever sinced I said one yes to a question on a so call charity questioniar or poll or survey or what ever else they freindly label it as. Other people please beware not to say yes despite you have helped them in the past as this opens the flood gates to other charities possibly even scammers if the information is sold to the wrong people.
I am for ever blocking calls and continuing to use reverse look up in case there is a genuine call I need to answer. For me luckily the calls less freuquently originate from Perth (my hoem city) and majoirty are from other states. Never had one from SA, NT or TAS, yet, making it easier to filter, as most people call me on a mobile number.
Most often with these calls I wait for some one to speak (do not say anything yourself); there is often no responeone, I heard they multi call a bunch of numbers and hear who replies. So be in a quiet place to answer and you know if there is not a replay it may not be human but something perhaps suotomated to respond.
For those that are not in the know you can registere yourself on the do not call register on the .gov.au site. Careful, I am suspicious that questionair targetted at me was a way around for them to bypass that register!
Thanks to all who left info on this number. I let the call go through to message bank - no msg left of course but the number was showing and as unknown to me I came here as usual. From the dates of previous posts it looks like the lowlife abusing the telephone system took an ill-deserved Christmas break. Recorded message telling me that my credit card has been compromised i hang up on the low life even if it was a genuine caller, you should do the same there's no way someone is going to take my hard earned money. no message=blocked number The call went to the answering machine but they left no message.
I also received a call from this number (03) 8588 3916 yesterday, went to answering machine, no message left.
I wish the Govt would do something about this problem, as my phone is for my own personal use, no one else's.
Cheers to you all for going to the effort in making these posts, it helps me ! :-)
They call up to 4to 5 times a day every day go an get a real job Mate .you piss me off. Thank you for the comments above. Fortunately I did not answer as I tend not to answer calls on my mobile where I am not able to identify the caller. No message left. Now that I am back in the office and I have an office phone it is easier to screen these unidentified calls from work related calls. Always wary when location comes up Clayton (Vic) or Dandenong (Vic). Caller: Supposedly Next Step charity
Woman with Australian accent. I interrupted her spiel and asked her to take my number off their database and she laughed at me. Absolute scum. I am so sick of these calls. The do not call register does nothing.
They just hung up when I answered 🤷🏻♀️ Call was missed and went to voice mail, though no message left. The authorities would do well just permanently disconnecting all phone numbers put on these lists completely. Have had numerous calls from 'strange numbers' - charity, pretending to be ATO, etc., etc. As our landline is only used to facilitate our NBN connection and we don't use it for receiving/making calls, I have put the ringer on 'silent'. However, I do have '"caller id" set up on our landline so am able to retrieve the phone numbers that have attempted to ring our landline. Well worth the few $ you pay to have caller i.d. on your landline. scam Lowlife scammers. I blocked a number only yesterday when these cretins butted into my evening and it seems that this is another of the numbers they use to make people's lives a misery. Now I have to unblock another number so that I can add this one. Got the scam call today, avoid like the plague 2nd Clayton (Vic) number that’s started calling me after 8pm (Qld). This number started calling after I blocked their other number - (03) 8588 3916 Caller: Likely scammer
They ring and soon as you say hello they hang up.
