I actually answered the call...and they still hung up. Mongrels tried to sell me additional services etc and i said "mate, im not paying to access my own information" which went right over the ladys head...still going on with her sales pitch. Now, to see if I get my FREE Credit report.

Belinda, husband and wife credit reports are not joined (how could they deal with multiple marriages). Each adult is responsible for their own credit. Just as you do not have to pay his debts and he does not have to pay yours (regardless of what some lenders or debt collectors try to tell you). You are both responsible for debts in joint names. In fact, there is no such thing as a credit rating in Australia - your credit report simply states all credit applications, loan applications, defaults, judgements etc. You do not actually have a rating such as 4 out 10. You should request a free report for you and a free report for him - there may be items on there that aren't his - ie. put on there in error or identity theft. Hope this helps

Same deal as everyone else here. Applied to Veda for their free credit report, received a prank call the following morning.

It's a big red warning light to me when companies call and hang up (obviously expecting you to call back and foot the bill for whatever conversation they wish to have, which from the reports here seem to be a sales pitch scam). Now I am very concerned about the private information I did provide them with. Thankfully it wasn't credit card or banking details, but miscreants can still do a lot of damage with just our names, D.O.B's, addresses and place of work, etc.

I find it difficult to understand why valid reputable major corporations like banks and telco's (for me it was Optus) are referring people to this company Veda when it's clear that they have disreputable practices. (I will definitely be complaining to Optus regarding this matter and pointing them to the wealth of complaints here at Reverse Australia for reference!)

I still have the same question as everyone else though. Has anyone ever actually received their free credit report from Veda, or is it just one big massive phishing scam for private information and telemarketing sales pitches with dire warning of consequences if we fail to cough up money?

Was also told to check credit rating as often as possible to as there could be things put on there by mistake and u would never know.

Just called Veda on the number they called me on and then hung up immediately and they were trying to sell me a Credit score report. Normally around $80 but only $54.95 if I bought it now.....no thanks. I hate this style of business. Something should be done about it like reporting them to the better business bureau.

Yes I too received a call that hung up immediately after I answered. I don't know if they do it to verify your number, but they should at least say so. I don't know if it was Veda, but I also had just applied for free credit report. I didn't pay anything nor did it come up with anything for credit card details.

Veda Scam

I also requested a free credit report using the links given, but it came up with a cost of $79.95 and requested my credit card details. Took the BPay option as I requested the free report not a paid report. The instructions said to ignore the cost amount, but it did not come up as zero as the instructions said it would. Would be interested to see if I actually get the report.

Also, I have learnt if you do give them your credit card details, they not only charge your card for the current report, but do it on an annual basis. That is all in the fine print, so whatever you do DON'T GIVE CREDIT CARD DETAILS to them unless it is a card which is going to expire within the 12 months.

Yep, I also applied for a credit report and have now received calls from this number. I specifically removed the tick from the 'you can contact about other products' type box so shouldn't they be respecting that.

Yes I too applied for a free credit check as advised by a letter from ANZ after being declined for a credit card. I missed a call from this number, looked it up on reverseaustralia & rang it back when I found out it was Veda. I thought they might need to confirm my identity to send the report. Wrong. All they wanted was to push another report that would tell me my credit points (or something like that). This isn't included in the free report & was available for $59, usually $74.95. Quite insistent about it really. The man's voice sounded like a weird American accent, I even wondered if it was a computerised voice. Bit disappointed in ANZ recommending I contact Veda for the credit report. Now to see if the free credit report arrives & what information it holds.
